Who: Lyra Gardhouse & Thanatos
When: Tuesday late afternoon
Where: Thanatos' apartment
Lyra felt a little foolish standing outside Thanatos' door after she knocked. There was a plate of cookies in her arms (covered with cling film to keep it safe on the way over) and she was wondering now if it had been the best idea.
She'd been forcing herself to spend time with Thanatos (and to call him by that name and not that other one, even though it felt like her own tongue was lying). She wanted to get past this weirdness and slowly it was working. She was getting back to where they had been before. They were becoming friends again. (She'd not said anything about that night between them since the first time, nor had she asked more about those feelings he said he had for her. That part she wasn't ready for.)
Thanatos never expected visitors. Even in this neighborhood he was generally left alone, and Hypnos wouldn't knock. He'd just come in. So he answered the door with a frown, that quickly changed into a smile. "Lyra, I didn't expect you." He stepped back then, "please, come in. What brings you here?"

"I brought you these," Lyra told him, holding out the cookie plate. "But then I was standing here and thinking that, actually, maybe you don't really eat and you've just done it in front of me before to uphold the illusion so... now it feels like a sort of stupid gift."

Smiling he took the plate, "it's fine Lyra, and I do eat. I'm not dead. Besides, no one is going to turn down cookies." Smiling he stole one and bit into it, motioning her into his living room. "I do whatever any mortal does Lyra. I just continue existing, and have extra duties. The Greeks they made us like them, to better deal with how their life was."

"I thought the Greek Gods mostly just ate ambrosia?" Lyra asked as she came inside, following Thanatos with an expression of curiosity. "Although there probably isn't much of that around... whatever it was..."
Lyra sighed and ran a hand through her hair with a shy smile. "I keep asking the most stupid questions, I'm sorry. You must be getting so sick of it."

He motioned for her to sit before doing the same, "hey they aren't stupid and I far from mind alright? Ask whatever you like." Smiling he finished the cookie, only to have another, "Olympus mostly did yes. I never had much of it. I didn't like it."

"Mum used to make stuff for my birthday parties back in Greece that she called Ambrosia and she used to swear it was the real stuff. But I'm pretty sure she just made it with honey and stuff. Anyway," she added, because who cared about some kid's party foods? "I thought I'd drop by since I didn't have anything on today. I hope you don't mind?"

"still cute though," then he shook his head, "no not at all. Come by whenever you like. You know when I work and when I don't. I like your company." he smiled to her

"I like yours too," Lyra promised him with a nod and then said, gently, "And I'm not scared anymore. I woke up this morning and I realised that: that I'm not scared at all, of any of this. The fact that the Gods are here... this makes sense and it feels right, and it feels ever more right that I made friends with Death. I've always fitted with death, and now I fit with you."

He tilted his head to her, "you mean my childhood?" He hadn't had much of it. When she spoke he smiled to her and set his hand over hers. "That's wonderful Lyra. I'm glad that you're comfortable with me. You are my friend. Not having you around would make this a pretty dull existence. Whatever you need, I'll make sure to get it."

"Your comapany, silly," Lyra clarified, her smile bright as she nudged him with her elbow. "Did you even get to have a childhood? Was there a little boy Death?"
Her cheeks darkened slightly with a blush when he said he liked having her around. It made Lyra feel pretty special. She shook her head easily. "Oh, no, I don't need anything, I like like being your friend. I like having things mostly how they were again."

"Oh," laughing he removed his hands from hers, "I have cobwebs sometimes. And no. Not really. I came to life and knew my purpose." He shrugged, "never looked back."
"Alright, then I will do my best to keep things normal. And steal your cookies." Smiling he devoured another one, "no more questions?"

"Meant you got to skip the awkwardness of puberty," Lyra grinned. "Not a bad trade there."
"No more questions," Lyra said with a shake of her head, happy that he was stealing the cookies. "At least," she smiled, "not right at the moment."

He grinned to her, "not really, I am Greek. I'm perpetually in puberty. Most of us are. Try explaining Zeus any other way." He shook his head, offering her a cookie before nodding, "well you have my number. Did you want to watch a movie or something?"

"I'm not qualified to try explaining Zeus!" Lyra laughed and then, a little cautiously and leaning in as though someone else might hear: "is he here too? I don't think I really want to meet Zeus."
"Movie is good for me!" Lyra beamed. "Hey, have you still got that box of popcorn I brought around ages ago?" she asked, standing up.

He laughed easily, "here's a secret," he gave her a mischievous smile, "no one is." Smirking he nodded, "he is, but he won't bother you. I promise. Besides I hear he's a statue of some sort right now. Seems fitting."
He nodded, rising to go check out what new movies he'd bought, "should be in my pantry unless my twin got to it."

"Well," Lyra said, a little unsure of if she should ask more there. "That's very interesting then." It was probably just easier not to ask.
Lyra went into the kitchen to find the popcorn and then put the bag into the microwave. "Do I get to meet your twin?" Lyra called out to him. "In less terrifying circumstances?"

He smirked, "it's confusing even to me. Just go with it." He set his new collection aside so she could decide along with him what they would watch. It was nice to have things go back to normal. He'd missed this.
"Yes, of course. I'll tell him not to scare the pretty ladies," he sighed, "it's forever a mystery how he got married."

"I don't think he meant to scare me," Lyra said with a small smile and a shake of her head. "It was just a surprise."
The popcorn in the microwave had started to pop and while they both stood there Lyra decided to make the leap. She stepped forward and suddenly wrapped her arms around him tightly, hugging him for the first time (by her own choice) since before she'd found out what he was.

He blinked to the hug but smiled and returned it easily enough. It was nice to have her hug him again, and not see anymore fear in her eyes. He released her after a moment and motioned to the DVD's "Pick one. And I know. After a while, subtlety goes out the window."
