Who: Isabelle Darlington and John
When: Tuesday night
What: Just having dinner, getting out of the apartment
Where: Some nice restaurant, then a walk
Warnings: TBD
It had been months since Isabelle had moved out of her parents home. They still called her nearly every day to check up on her, see if she had crashed as fast as Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. They tried their best to get their daughter to see their side of things. At nineteen she still had a lot to explore and not be under some rich man's wing. They promised to set her up in her own place and unlock her funds when she agreed to come home. They were bribing her to come home and she refused to let them have their way. In her mind she was a grown woman, she could make her own decisions. She didn't want to stay under John's roof forever, she didn't want to keep imposing on his kindness when it seemed with each passing day he wasn't used to having someone around all the time. To be honest she had been thinking about it for days, finding her own place, but said nothing to John just yet. It meant she really needed to make her mind up on school, find a job and chose what direction she was going to go into. The way things were now she was just someone that occupied his home when he wasn't there, she wanted more than that. She really didn't want to sour things with them if she was cramping his style. She too was never going to be some caged bird for anyone to hole up.
The kitten that John had brought home while doing kittenly things got in the way at times. It still pooped, vomited and peed on things when it felt threatened. It had grown very attached to her because she fed it and snuggled it. She didn't mind taking care of it though. She even took it out for walks. It had become a very well trained kitten most of the time. It gave her something to do until school started up. She'd waited on it for so long that she still wasn't sure what school she was interested in. This was all new territory for her.
John spoiled her with clothes. For a night out she went with a sexy cream and black ensemble which showed off her legs. She was going to look good for herself, get out of the house. John would treat her to a nice dinner, she would make sure of it when she slipped on her heels and stepped out of the bedroom.
John adjusted his tie in the bathroom mirror. It was good to be able to dress extra-well every once in a while. He dressed well to work of course, but going out to a restaurant where people would surely notice them as people worthy of notice, well then you had to be at your best. He saw Isabelle's reflection in the mirror as she stepped out, and smiled as he turned to embrace her.
"You look ravishing," he said, sliding a hand over her hip as he kissed her jaw so he wouldn't smudge her lipstick. "We don't have to go out anywhere tonight..."
She grinned wide flattening a hand over his tie. "Are you saying you don't want to go out to be seen with me?" She teased raising a brow in emphasis. She wanted to do something with him instead of wasting a perfectly good night out. It had cooled off a little, it wasn't raining, it was a gorgeous evening.
"I'm saying I want to see more of you," he teased, pulling away. "That dress is simple divine on you. Well if you do insist on going out, we should probably go now or we'll miss our reservation." Not that he was too bothered about reservation times. He usually treated them as a guideline rather than a rule.
She wiggled her fingers through his bangs with a smile, putting his arms down from around her waist. "Then let's go. You can see more of me later. It's a nice night out." She was used to being a social butterfly not some house wife. It was why eventually going to school and letting John have his space back would be good for them both.
She wrapped her arm around his to go out the door.
John lead her down to where the car was waiting, glad to have her with him. The restaurant was one of those fancy ones where you need to book a month in advance and celeb spotters were hang out. It was the place to be seen if you were anyone worth caring about.
He was feeling especially pleased today because Henry was back in touch, and he was dying to show off the gorgeous young woman he shared a bed with to him. Richard might be a complete toss-pot about it all, but Henry would appreciate her, for sure.
"Are we meeting anyone or is it just us?" She didn't mind the rich show-offs. At times it seemed okay to be an ornament for John, but she had a mind of her own. She wouldn't let him shelf her and make her just some shiny attachment he could wear. She didn't want to be a collection piece for him to get tired of when the newness wore off.
She slipped into the car, the seat comfy as she settled and crossed one leg over the other, showing off those milky-white legs. Which looked fantastic in those black shoes. She'd picked those herself.
John sat down next to her and the car slid into traffic, engine purring soft from where they sat in the back. He gave her a smile and reached across the seat to clasp her hand in his. "Just us," he said. "I feel like we haven't gone out in a while. I want to treat you."
She squeezed his hand with a perky smile. "It has been a while," she nudged him with her elbow softly. "You spend too much time at work." She leaned over to kiss his cheek. "A girl likes to know she's important every now and then."
John smiled back. "Of course you're important my dear. Why else would I keep you around?" he teased. He was feeling especially regal today, treating his consort to a meal, both dressed excellently. The patrons of the restaurant that night would be thought of as his subjects.
When they pulled up, the chauffeur got out and opened the door for them, and John swept past him towards the door, pausing slightly to wait for Isabelle to catch up.
"Well I would hope it's my good company. I'm not just a pretty face." She grinned, dimples hitting her cheeks. She wasn't just a silly teenage girl, though her parents had told her she was being manipulated by John. She'd like to think she had a good handle on this relationship too, but she would admit sometimes she felt like it slipped. She wouldn't be human if she didn't have those kind of cryptic thoughts from time to time. She kept a happy face still, making sure that he didn't tire of her.
Slipping out of the car she stood up, fluffing out her skirt so she could take his hand into the restaurant.
