Hera could only hope Zeus had dealt with Poseidon. He was the only flaw in her party, and if the sea god decided to show, she'd toss him off the railing of the building herself. Everything else was perfect. Those that would serve them knew who they were, and she'd hired a suspicious lack of female employees. Hera wasn't an idiot, and would act accordingly.
She'd already send out word to her daughter to make her appearance, and now made a last round, smoothing out the lines of her gown. She was looking forward to this evening. Punishing Hephaestus would be amusing, if nothing else, and she still held on to the fact he'd once dared to imprison her.
Morpheus (Open to Anyone!)

Morpheus stuck to the shadows of the party, although there weren't nearly enough of them. Even if he wasn't the one being put in the spotlight, he still felt tense. And so he leaned against a wall, dressed in his least-rumpled shirt and dress pants, keeping an eye out for his brother and Iris and sipping a class of wine.

Dressed in his new suit and hat, Hypnos slid through the crowd, hat pulled down low over his face, trying not to catch the eye of anyone powerful enough to turn him into a greasy, smoking smear on the ground. He got himself a martini (he'd always wanted to try one), and looked around for a friendly face. Thankfully, he spotted Morpheus rather quickly and made his way over. "And thus begins the weirdest, most on edge party I have ever been to," he said by way of greeting.

Death was rarely invited to many parties, so for this one he'd dressed up. He could find Hypnos fairly easily, and as Death tended to follow Sleep he made his way to his brothers, coming up behind them. "What are we hiding from brothers?"

Morpheus grinned brightly at seeing his siblings. He hadn't gotten the chance to spend much time with Thanatos, having been busy avoiding Nyx, so the party would at least be good for catching up.
"Everyone," Morpheus answered, taking another long sip of wine. "I think you might be busy tonight, Thantos, depending on how angry Hera is."

He gave a smile to the joke, "no. I've never known Hera to be gentle. Our sisters, perhaps they will be busy." He didn't fear either King or Queen of the Gods. He saw the threads of Fate, and obeyed those. Not even Zeus or Hera could stop him if it was either of their times.
"I have not seen you in some time Morpheus. You are well?" He glanced to Hypnos then, "Lyra says hello."

"Everyone," Hypnos agreed, knocking back half his drink in one go. He looked at both of them and grinned a bit. "This looks like the setup to a joke, Sleep, Dream and Death all walk into a party."
"But let's hope you're really not," he added. "And tell her I said hi when you see her next! I'd like to meet her."

Morpheus laughed at Hypnos' joke, keeping his snicker quiet. No need to draw undue attention to themselves. After a moment of consideration, he told Thanatos, "Iris and I have been in Las Vegas, having a vacation. We apparently got married, it's been very interesting."

He nodded to Hypnos comment, knowing he needed to make some time for his friend to meet his twin. At Morpheus' admittance he blinked before smiling. "Congratulations to you both. I'll give my best to Iris when I see her." Thanatos didn't really get marriage, but it wasn't something for him.

"I know, right?" Hypnos agreed with a grin. "As soon as she turns up, we need to flag her down. Also, apparently there are pictures of Morpheus with his hair in a Miss USA style, which I really need to see. This is imperative." He swallowed down what would have been a really loud laugh, turning it into a long, quiet chuckle instead.

To that image, Thanatos had to laugh. "This I must see as well now. I am sure that will be something to remember for quite some time." he grew serious after a moment, setting his hand on Hypnos' arm, "can you come to the hospital tomorrow? The patient I've been speaking of, the one that believes? It is his time. You were asked for."

Hypnos snickered. "I have no doubt. On both counts. But pictures are required. Like the mortals say, 'Pics or it didn't happen'."
He sobered immediately, however, at his twin's request. "Of course I will," he replied, resting his hand on Thanatos'. "Just tell me when you need me there."

Iris wouldn't be a proper messenger if she didn't provide Hypnos with the pictures he so desperately wanted to see, and oh how she just happened to make her appearance right when he said that. She strolled over, grinning ear to ear and already had pictures in hand. She gave Morpheus a sweet, innocent smile. "Remember this is to prove you're not a liar."
After she'd handed the pictures over she smiled all around to them, "Hello, boys. Good evening so far?" Iris wasn't much for a large gathering of Greeks. It only screamed something bad was inevitable, but she still remained her upbeat self. She had gone with the first dress in her little "poll" mainly because Morpheus had voted for it. It was a tie between this and the last one, but she weighed his opinion a little more heavily than her own with this.

He'd looked over the pictures with half a smile, chuckling at his brother's up do. He worried for Morpheus though. He knew Iris had been wed before. He hoped it would turn out well, they seemed to enjoy one another and bring happiness.
He gave Iris a nod "so far, yes. I do not see my sisters about just yet so I assume all is quiet. It seems I owe you congratulations Iris, for joining the family. I wish you the best."

Hypnos had to laugh at the sight, a bright sound that sounded out of place, but he couldn't help it. "It looks good," he said, not even bothering to hide his grin.
"Elpis is here, I think," he added. "I don't know about any of the others. And yes, congratulations to both of you. And maybe a good luck? Speaking from lots of personal experience, our family is kind of crazy."

Atropos hadn't been lying when she said that she and her sisters were not looking forward to this party in the slightest. But Hades had been right, assembling so many of them in one place was guaranteed to cause problems. And so, they dressed up, and arrived at Zeus' penthouse just before the party was due to start. Clotho was still looking a little pale, and she'd had a few missteps in her bright red shoes before they had left, but when Atropos had offered to call and make their excuses, she'd fixed her with a firm look and taken a few deep breaths.
"I am not an invalid, Atropos," she'd said, a lot of the old Clotho back in her voice. "And besides, if we don't show, who will talk to Hades?" She'd done a few far steadier lengths of the shop, and nodded in a satisfied way once she'd reached the door. "Alright," she'd said, and swept out of the shop after her sisters.
Presently, Atropos was sipping on a gin and tonic, after having commandeered a chair from one of the servers. "I'm old and my feet hurt," she'd said, glaring at the girl, who had quailed and ran to fetch one. Lachesis had quietly snorted, moving to Atropos' right, while Clotho was on the left. As one, the three of them sighed. It was going to be a long night.

The Praxidikai, while not exactly liking being commanded to come to a party they knew nothing about, each had a different view on the matter. Praxidike was naturally cautious about the whole thing. Arete enjoyed a good time so this was likely to make her happy somewhat. And Homonoia was just quiet as they each filed into the penthouse. They had no idea what to wear (the invite had been rather vague) so they just winged it.
Their only relief was when they spotted the Moirai and Praxidike made a beeline for them, closely followed by Homonoia as Arete lagged a little to say hi so some others.
Praxidike greeted the Fates with a half-smile. "Clotho, I'm so relieved to know you're alright." Homonoia just smiled awkwardly and kept glancing around while Arete finally showed up and gave them the biggest greeting yet. "Good to see you're all here. It wouldn't have been worth it without you all." Of course, she said it quietly so only the six of them could hear.

As soon as the Fates spotted the Praxidikai, their moods lifted. Here were three goddesses they could honestly say understood how they functioned, as a unit, and didn't give them grief for voicing their opinions.
Clotho smiled back. "Thank you, Praxidike, it's so good to be back up and around. Perhaps this wasn't the first place I'd have chosen to show my face again, but here we are." She shrugged.
Atropos smiled at Arete. "Well, we are so glad the three of you are here. If I have to be on the receiving end of one more halfway terrified look, I think I might smack someone."
Lachesis added, "Thank you, Arete, that's very sweet of you to say. How have the three of you been since we saw you last?"

Praxidike studied Clotho, though she couldn't really judge for herself if the other goddess was fully ready for this event. Who was? "It certainly wouldn't be my first choice." She stopped short of saying This is the last place I'd show up without a command and only because they functioned because of Fate did they even bother to show.
Arete bit her lip but couldn't hold back her laughter. "I think mom misses those looks, sometimes." To which Praxidike did give her daughter a side-long look that suggested never to say that ever again lest she wanted to be at the end of a blunt sword. Not that Praxidike would ever raise a hand to her children. They would be the exception to the rule and Praxidike didn't break rules.
She then shrugged in response to Lachesis, "Really, without you three here we'd end up doing things we probably shouldn't be doing without your consent." IN which she obviously meant punishing or even taking lives without Fate giving the go-ahead.
"We've been busy, of course," she Praxidike. "Homonoia's boyfriend stayed with us for a while during that business with Ariadne and Dionysus. He was unfortunately a target of the gods powers without Dionysus knowing it, but he's all better now," Arete grinned and winked at her sister who in turn gave a stony face and just sort-of-smiled at the Moirai, "He's back to his old self," Homonoia reassured them all. "Other than that things have been strangely quiet, though we did notice the absence of one particular Olympian who has been being a spectacle of himself," said Praxidike with a suggestive look at the crowd.

Moros would really like to know who had thought it was a good idea to invite the spirit of doom to a party. He'd really like to know, mostly so he could shake their hand. There was an uneasy feeling throughout the entire place, and he just basked in it, curling it around him like a blanket.
Adjusting the cuffs on his suit, he slid inside, unnoticed from what he could tell (because let's face it, who wants to notice Doom?), and got himself a glass of scotch. He glanced around, trying to see if any of his siblings were there, but if not, that was fine too. Even if he didn't speak to anyone, at least he'd showed.

While Elpis had come with Atropos, the minute she'd noticed her counterpart she'd moved to him. He'd helped her pick out her dress, and now wanted to show it off.
That and she knew few would otherwise speak to her brother. Grinning she stepped beside him, "boo. Nice crowd huh?" She wondered if anyone would notice the fact that she was around, which she didn't really care for so long as she didn't have to be in another box, but was curious to see who else was there. "You look very sharp there big brother. I'm amazed you have a suit."

"True," he agreed. "Doesn't mean I can't give my sister a compliment, now does it?"
"A lot of them, I'm not too fond of, but that's just me," he said, side-eyeing the entire room. "But there's two of Zeus' enforcers over there, Zelos and Bia." He gestured to them. "And in that corner, the woman with the dark hair in silver and white? That's Aphrodite." He did a double-take at the rather skinny brunette in black, but recognized her, belatedly, as Demeter, and pointed her out to Elpis. (Without actually pointing. Drawing an angry Olympian's attention was the last thing he wanted to do.)
"As far as siblings go, Hypnos, Thanatos, Morpheus and the Fates are all here, Atropos seems to be holding court," he remarked with a smirk, raising a glass in her direction and grinning when she rolled her eyes and Lachesis waved.
"Hades is here too, I think," he added, drawing her gaze to the silent Lord of the Underworld. "Though I don't see Persephone. And that's Clio, sitting down in the white. And Hecate looks like she's going in circles, the woman with the corset and black hair, see?"

Smiling she nodded, taking a drink from a passing servant. "Well then thank you. Gods knows those are rare enough." She looked at those he mentioned, taking note of everyone. She knew who to avoid by name alone. Not even Hope needed that kind of attention.
"Oh I know. I felt Death when I came in. I said hello. And Atropos always holds court. She's the real power you know." She smirked, saying it low enough not to draw attention. "Okay so I know who not to talk to. So far, so good right?"

"Yeah, he's kind of hard to miss. I should go say hi too, get all the 'Dr. Doom' jokes out of the way now." He rolled his eyes. "Well you know I agree with you there, but gods forbid anyone say it out loud, right?" he said, lowering his voice to match hers. "Let Zeus think what he likes," he added, almost too quiet to hear.

She had to laugh to that, she would get her own in, eventually, "You should. Come on, how many jokes does Thanatos make these days? I think eh earns some jokes." She glanced around, not wanting Zeus to appear all of a sudden. "I think he does already."

He smirked. "Not many, but I never really pegged him for the joking type in the first place. He can have his fun, but I just know I'm going to get the Dr. Doom comics from him for Christmas. Or possibly you." He shrugged. "Hasn't he always?"

She chuckled, "everyone's changed a little now. Thanatos is more open, joking now. I hardly mind. He may be the thing waiting for us all, but that doesn't mean he can't smile. And of course. I'll collaborate with him and find you all the good ones." She nodded, "he has."
"Oh come on you'll love the look on their faces. They won't know what to think. Whether it's a bad thing I'm partially out of Pandora's box, or that you're here." She smirked. "So let's find someone."

He hadn't long been back when hearing of the invite to Zeus'. With is old man there, Hercules hardly felt Hera would try to intervene again with her jealous tactics. Hercules wasn't a favorite of hers, but he was Zeus'.
Hebe had expressed her desire to not go, but he'd play her valiant hero for the night if she wanted. It was harder to find fancy clothes for the big guy to squeeze into without looking like he was stuffed into it. He'd finally found a nice gray jacket to wear over a low buttoned collared shirt, vest and dark wash jeans, but beyond that he wasn't going to doll it up too much. There was a realm of awkwardness as there hadn't been this many Greeks huddled around in one area like this in some time.

Hebe wasn't looking forward to think. She didn't understand why she had to attend this party, actually make an appearance, when she could just stay in her room and say she had gone. It wasn't fair. She should be allowed to choose whether to go out there or to stay in here and not be bothered. Right now the only people she wanted to see were the only ones she'd seen lately. That was her choice, and yet inside there was that conflicting voice reminding her she had no freedom.
She sighed, staring at herself in the mirror. At least she had been allowed to choose her dress. For the part ten minutes she had been "applying her makeup" in preparation to leave the room and get this thing over with. But she hadn't set foot out the door. When the servant had left she had to push back the urge to lock the door and climb out the window. Maybe she was just waiting for her only strength to get there for her to hold onto. She was just waiting for her husband to convince her to get out there before her mother or father did.

Hebe still hadn't showed which caused Hercules to worry. Looking down to his watch he noticed the time. If Hebe didn't make an appearance soon Hera would make sure she did. He slipped out from the crowd, as much as the big guy could and headed upstairs to see where his little wife was.
Knocking on the door before entering he found her still staring at her form in the mirror as if she were in a panic.

"I don't want to go out there," was her response. And she didn't. She had absolutely no reason to be there because this had absolutely nothing to do with her. The days of being cup bearer were over and the closest she came to Olympus was being the daughter of their rulers.
She wasn't important anymore.
She finally set her unopened lipstick down and turned. "Do I look alright?" Apart from the obviousness of her very much not wanting to be doing this she looked very pretty. She felt pretty and she knew she looked it, but she still didn't like the dress. She wouldn't dare tell her mother that.

He stood over her, his shadow hoovering as his hands rested on her shoulders, fingers stroking against her cheek. "You look pretty," he said giving her the softest of smiles.
Something else ailed her that Hercules had yet to get from her since he'd returned. Instead he'd stayed quiet, being the strength she needed. He pulled her into a warm embrace, his large hands cloaking her in their hold.

Hebe smiled a little, more genuine that it had been lately. While she knew she was protected now, that the only thing standing between her and anyone who wanted to hurt her were the three people she loved more than anything else, she was still terrified.
"No," she said in a whisper, unable to explain exactly what she felt. Something had stuck to her while she was held captive. It wasn't her sister, she knew that much. There was something inside that was sad and broken when Hebe had absolutely no reason to be so.
With an effort she stood up straight and walked out the door to get this night over with.

Hercules let his hands slide off her shoulders taking hold of her hand before she could exit.
"Hebe," he insisted with a more stern voice than he'd given her in a while. He knew not what Enyo had done, but he'd made sure Enyo paid for breaking his little wife, and Hercules himself still in time may finish the deed. He'd given her the benefit of the doubt, a decision he still wondered had been the right one. If Enyo showed her face not even Zeus would stop him.
"Talk to me," he gave her slightly upturned brows, innocent even like that of a child that needed to be sure those he cared for were alright. His world wasn't alright if her's wasn't.

Hebe stopped stopped just short of the door. Jaw clenched she could barely remember everything that had happened while she was gone. She hadn't been treated horribly, but the constant silence was what had really gotten to her. She had been kept in the dark, tied on the floor and though she knew now that it had been Enyo, at the time she had no idea. Her sister never breathed a word to her.
"Something latched onto me. I don't know what it was but it won't let go," she said in a small voice. Whatever it was, she felt worthless a lot of the time. Dreams were strange and vivid and often times she would cry huddled in the corner. She had no reason to, not with the protection that surrounded her.

He was a man of good strength and vigor, but he had failed this wife just as he had the one's before. Hebe tugged at his heart strings with her quiet demeanor. It wasn't like her and he just wanted to fold his arms around her and never let her out of his sight again. He hadn't protected her before, and as much as he hated for Hera's words to sting, they did.
He folded her into him with a gentleness that seemed impossible for one as strong as him. His hand brushed through her hair. He wasn't the big talker, he never was, but he just wanted to hear what she had to say, for Hebe was usually bouncing around talking about her day even if he never replied back.
She was too pure to have such dark thoughts sit in her mind. He had lots of them. He petted her softly as if the action would console her.

"That's why I don't want to go," she went on. "I don't know what happened. I just don't feel like myself anymore." She didn't go into anymore detail than that. It was enough to know she wasn't feeling herself. She didn't need to start spouting off about how she felt worthless sometimes, and for no reason at all.
She practically melted against him and stayed that way for several minutes. Hebe had been sheltered from certain things. Had she known more about the oldest of the gods she might have been able to pinpoint where this was all coming from. That she had been stuck in darkness and silence with no idea where she was was why it was sticking with her for so long. Khaos held on tight, even if she didn't know it.
"Let's go. I want to get this over with," she said firmly, though any desire to actually go to the party was completely absent from her mind.

Hercules didn't need the work of an old god to understand that kind of despair. For a long time he bore guilt and shame for what he'd done to those he cared for, he didn't want to leave Hebe alone like that. He let her go reluctantly leading her out the door with a gentle push against the small of her back. His hand then found hers, snaking that large hand with her fingers and leading her down the steps.
They looked so different standing side by side, her small and youthful, he the large brute who could easily crush her head between his hands. Yet, he was very patient and soft with her.

There were few times in Hebe's own life that she felt any pain that could even compare to his. She had been taken care of, given everything she ever wanted or needed, protected from the evils of the world. She had nothing to be sad about.
The moment Hebe stepped into the room where most of the guests had decided to flock to she stopped abruptly. She was looking from every face, making sure her sister wasn't there. If Enyo dared show up tonight she'd likely be on display with punishment. "I don't see her, do you?" She asked quietly, still taking in the room to make sure. She couldn't feel or see her sister, but that didn't mean she wouldn't show. She stayed close to him, pressed right up against him, simply because she needed that physical comfort. The crowd was too large for her liking. Long past were the days in which she greeted such company.

Hercules still had told her little of what he'd done to Enyo, but he knew her sister would not be so stupid as to attack Hebe here or he would finish what he'd promised. "No. She won't bother you."
His arm nestled snuggly around her waist. "Want to go later, just say," he instructed her.

Hades far from liked having to attend this party, but his presence would be missed if he failed to show, and as one of the Sons of Cronus (Crappy as his deal may have been) he had to make an appearance. He hadn't bothered to get too dressed up for this however. He saw he fact he even bothered to show as effort enough.
He'd noticed the Fates and made a note to speak to them later, a the very least he'd have someone to talk to besides Persephone, but no one else truly registered. Well save the other two sons of Nyx that brought souls into his domain.
He stood aside from most of everyone else, already a drink in hand and watching. He'd spend most of his time, when he got invited to such things of course, like this even back on Olympus. Just watching. Few ever wanted to speak to him and he was rather alright with that.

If there was anything that Euterpe was good at (besides the obvious musical talents) it was being friendly with everyone in the pantheon, even those that others liked to avoid. Euterpe was even polite and giving to Poseidon to his face. (Behind his back it was another matter.)
So with a smile as bright as her dress, Euterpe approached Hades. "Hello, Lord Necrodegmon," she said to him with a polite nod of her head. "How are you enjoying yourself?" He didn't actually look like he was at all, but it was good to at least ask.

When Euterpe approached him he was half surprised. He knew the Muses, if only by reputation, and did his best to keep track of his little brother's bastards. Seeing how either they, or their families, tended to end up in his realm due to his sister's influence he felt it more his job to do so then anyone else's.
"Not a name I've heard too often anymore." He bowed his head to her, before offering a shrug, "I am forced to attend a party I'd rather avoid, knowing there are a handful of beings willing to speak to me. I hoe you're enjoying yourself more?"

"A pity this doesn't all suit," Euterpe told him with a smaller smile, still warmth behind it. (There was no risk of her, a Muse, ever being kidnapped away to the underworld and Hades' faithfulness to that stolen wife meant Euterpe meant he was no threat to her unless she said something to offend either he or his Lady.)
"But," she added, "you and your fellow Olympians all look wonderful. And," she suggested playfully, "there's an open bar."

Hades had once been foolish enough to kidnap a daughter of a Harvest goddess. He'd have never lost his mind enough to steal a Muse. But he liked his nieces. A few spoke to him often enough to remind him not all feared him.
He smirked, then chuckled. "Now you're flattering for the sake of it girl. Leave it. I do not need such words." Then he nodded, "and thank goodness for that. I'll need it. I do not keep track much, I'm a terrible Uncle for it, so please tell me what you're doing with yourself?"

"As a Muse," Euterpe reminded him shyly, "it's sometimes too easy to fall back onto flattery of my betters. Apologies, Uncle." She bowed her head - just a little and just once - and then said, "I've been busy with mortal children, teaching them the ways of music when I'm not with Clio. He smiled, doing more of that now he was forgetting his duty as the Lord of the Dead and going back to his roots, and shrugged, "I'm hardly your better girl. I'm the Thirteenth because they had to include me, as a son of my father's." He nodded, "good that you are. I've worried for her. "I didn't know what to think of it at first," Euterpe admitted, looking over for a moment to where she could see Clio sitting with Thalia, before looking back at Hades. "I didn't like it at all, but the father seems nice. Very creative, a famous writer, so he's mostly Muse-approved now. I'm still not sure how I feel about the Christian part. They're very nice the ones I've met through her, but still... Christians are strange creatures."

He raised an eyebrow, "the more I hear, the curiouser I am. I have no right to demand anything." Had it been Makaria he'd have forced whoever it was to give him a grandchild into marriage. He didn't even care if it would be hypocritical. There wouldn't be any place to hide from Hades' anger anyway.
"But I have expressed a desire to meet this writer of hers. A little bit of 'don't fuck up. We watch.'" He smirked, "I think Makaria will hate me for that, if she ever meets someone." Then he nodded, "And I will not forget how one of theirs hurt one of ours. They may forget, but we're Greeks. We practically invented how to hold a grudge."

Ate already had a drink in hand and was waiting for the drama to unfurl. (The suggestion that there wouldn't be drama was completely out of the question. It was a room full of well-dressed massive egos. It would just take a little time for it to happen.)
The goddess of ruin felt bubbly and joyful, dressed deceptively cutely as she flitted between the daimons who had deigned to come, and whispered sweet little lies in the ears of others. (Not enough to get herself kicked out or killed, just until they told her to go away.)

Ares didn't like being around his parents. He didn't agree with either of them, but he'd come because he was forced to. He'd even worn the outfit Aphrdoite had said to wear (after a great deal of convincing and getting favors), and once he'd arrived he'd made a line to the bar.
He'd only left it when he'd spotted Ate. He'd watched her for a while until he could corner her with a drink and kiss. "Hows one of my favorite sisters then?"

Ares didn't make it a secret that Fear and Panic were his favorites, along with Enyo.
"It's because the Ice Bitch ain't getting laid," few would dare to speak about Hera that way. Ares was one of the few. Being her son should have some advantages. "Alright, let's see if the old man has got something decent to play."
She'd already send out word to her daughter to make her appearance, and now made a last round, smoothing out the lines of her gown. She was looking forward to this evening. Punishing Hephaestus would be amusing, if nothing else, and she still held on to the fact he'd once dared to imprison her.

"Definitely hopes to have that information right off the bat," he replied. "So yeah, that's good. Also, what do you wanna bet you'll be one of maybe...three people that talk to me all night?"

She gave him a playful shove, knowing he'd hardly feel it. She wasn't very strong, but it wasn't needed either. "I'm the nice one out of the two of us and you know it." She nodded, "And I know. Just teasing."
She had to laugh to that, she would get her own in, eventually, "You should. Come on, how many jokes does Thanatos make these days? I think eh earns some jokes." She glanced around, not wanting Zeus to appear all of a sudden. "I think he does already."

She nodded, as if that was pure truth, "and don't you forget it." There were times she could be more like her siblings, more like the dark stuff of Night but those were rare. It was a hard thing to spark her temper. "And that's why I never let you meet any person I date."
She chuckled, "everyone's changed a little now. Thanatos is more open, joking now. I hardly mind. He may be the thing waiting for us all, but that doesn't mean he can't smile. And of course. I'll collaborate with him and find you all the good ones." She nodded, "he has."

"Hebe," he said simply.

"Okay?" he asked wishing she'd say more like she used to. Wishing she was bouncy and energetic like she used to be. He missed that.

Ariel/Kymopleia
Ariel desperately wanted to be miles the other way. Preferably near a warm and sandy beach, where she could sing and ride the waves. But now with the Water God dead, the water felt strange.
It had been a pinch, but she'd found a decent gown. Blue, because it showed who she belonged to (And she knew Greeks, best to get that message across), and she'd decided if she was going to do this, she'd do it big. She kept her eyes open for the Water-Queen, keeping to a corner and avoiding most eyes, but she knew this was like blood to sharks. Sooner or later one of them would smell it and come hunt her down.

Kymopoleia liked excuses to drink and it was rare she saw all the gods together like this. She could hardly say no to such an invite, and as one so low in power it wasn't probably smart to go along just to not piss off Hera. No one would protect Kymopoleia should she get on the wrong side of that hag.
Especially not now that Poseidon was dead. Her father wouldn't have protected her, but still she felt a little more exposed without him around. For his memory she dressed in blue - only a shade lighter than her hair - in a dress that reminded her of her own beloved ocean waves.
She didn't write much on the blogs, but that didn't mean she didn't read them and follow. Which was why she recognised the blonde woman, the non-Greek stranger in their midst.
So Kymopoleia made her way over there to the mermaid and said, eying her with curiosity. "I know who you are. You work for Poseidon."

After chatting with his cousin he slid up next to his sister, holding up a new glass of the drink she had in her hand. On occasion, Zelos could do nice things. "You look stunning, as always." He grinned, half tempted to start a fight but not enough to get a lightning bolt in an uncomfortable place. He knew what happened to those who annoyed Zeus. "So, bets on who will throw the first punch?"

Bia accepted the new glass with a grateful look, taking a long drink. "Well thank you," she said, with a little grin. "I like your tie."
She could tell he was itching to do his thing, and lowered her voice. "On any other occasion, I'd be cheering you on to start something," she said conversationally. "As for the first punch? Possibly Kratos. Or me. I swear, you'd think people had never seen me in a skirt before."

"True, true, and, though I'm sometimes loathe to admit it, true," she said, grinning. "And yes, let's not get electrified tonight, I would really like that."
She smirked, an amused light dancing in her eyes. "Maybe so, but the first person who talks to my chest, or stares at my legs too long, that isn't someone I'm OK with doing that, is getting a heel on their toes. Unless it's Zeus, in which case I smile and don't say a word."

He sipped from his own drink, "alright, getting drunk, not having to toss anyone over the railings, and not getting fried. Goals for the evening. And duck when Hera and Zeus fight."
He smirked, "he is the boss. He thinks jump and we do it." He shrugged to it, used to the ways simply were. And despite his talk he was loyal. Zeus was always the one thing he'd ever known to be a constant in his life.

Aphrodite/Dionysus

2011-06-26 08:21 am UTC (link) Track This
Casting her eye across the gathered immortals, Aphrodite had been keeping an eye out for Poseidon. Sea-born Aphrodite had always had a strong connection to the ocean, it was the place of her birth and still considered one of her sacred places. So when she had been swimming and felt the strange and uncomfortable drop in her stomach, she'd known it had been Poseidon. Their connection to the sea connected them as much as neither of them may have liked it. There was a reason she'd born him not one but two children, after all.
To say that she was concerned about what had happened to Poseidon would be going to far. It was more that Aphrodite was curious as to what that feeling had been. As yet she'd voiced it to only her husband, but she hoped that tonight she'd find out more.
Clad in white and silver, the goddess of beauty merely waited for the true reasons for this party to become apparent.

He kissed her in return on those gorgeous, flawless cheeks of hers, hands nestled on her small waist.
He looked better since last she saw him, his cheeks had returned their color, and he held a more masculine appearance this outing since Ariadne would rather that than he raid her closet.
"I had to fight Ariadne for who had the best look," his hand ran over the tie he wore, pursing his lips which still held their gloss and eyes that smokey look.

Clio/Thalia
She'd dressed in a style reminiscent of the old Greek style, one that flattered her current shape and somewhat hid her pregnancy, and had found a place to sit and observe. She figured she was the only Greek here who wasn't drinking, and while she usually needed a glass or two to deal with her family she figured someone should remain sober.
If only to remind everyone later of what they all did.

Her ever present smile was a bit more pasted-on than usual, but no one seemed to be looking close enough to notice, and it wasn't really as terrible as she'd been expecting. At least for right now.
Beer in hand, she slid into a chair beside Clio, finally relaxing now that her sister was close by. "Shouldn't have worn heels this high," she bitched cheerfully. "But they went with the dress, so I guess that's my fault." She shrugged. "How're you holding up?"

"There you are, darling!" Peitho said as she neared, her voice carrying across the room. Peitho had never been one to blend into the background and, like Hecate, she was here at this part because she wanted to be. (She had told Hecate that colours would be appropriate so to offset that, Peitho had kept her own gown more monochromatic.)
She embraced the magic goddess and kissed both of her cheeks. "My beautiful Nyctipolus," she said to Hecate, admiring her husband's wife.

Maybe it was her parents return that sparked the Titan pride back into her, but she wasn't like the Olympians and their broods. "But no, not yet. I see Hector and Achilles close, so I hope we don't get Trojan 2.0. I feel Discord, somewhere, and Doom is about. But so is Hope so that cancels that." She set her head on Peitho's shoulder. "I see Apollo, I see the Laurel. And Eros. That will end well I'm sure. The Fates are here. And Death. I'm pretty sure it's a social faux pass to invite Death to a party, but I'm just a Titan." She smiled, "I see three of my cousins, but not Strenght. I see War and Recklessness. I see many things Peitho." She kissed Peitho's cheek then, leaving her somber state behind and going back to being cheery.
"Oh, I got five minutes out of Kratos. A head start, before you get ideas. Just in case." She tried planning ahead on most occasions. "It'll be him and Bia Zeus'd send after me, if it ever came down to it. I have the blood of Perses, he can't take chances with all of them. But I got a head start now, and I know how to hide."

Pasithea had been in the city longer than anyone had realized. It was her own desire to remain well hidden from many of her fellow Greeks if only because history was a bitch and she really didn't need people bugging her just because she "felt familiar" and that had happened on more than one occasion. But this party had been looming for a while and she could no longer deny her presence was expected; she had received an invitation, even though she had never made herself known to her King or Queen.
It wasn't that she had anything against them. She just liked her peace and resting was what she did best. So she had dressed somewhat casually and let her presence be known. She doubted many remembered her, but she was usually in a fairly good mood. Stretching, she sat back comfortably on a balcony chair and just stared up into the sky wondering why it had to be so bright at night. The stars were all hidden. She was there and if she was expected to participate in games or something of the sort she might be so inclined.

Hypnos was starting to feel like a breath of fresh air would definitely do him some good, so he made his way out onto the balcony. He'd removed his jacket and tie some time ago, and that, combined with the breeze across his skin, was starting to make him feel better.
Several deep breaths and half a drink later, he was almost his regular cheerful self. He was turning to go back inside, when he noticed a girl sitting on a chair. "Oh, I'm sorry," he said. "I didn't disturb you, did I?"

Pasithea had sunk into the seat and looked half-asleep. In fact, she could have fallen asleep any moment had she not heard someone come out. Unlike most people would have reacted, however, she was completely fine with this change of events. Such was expected at a party.
"A little, but I'm always open to new things." She looked slightly bleary-eyed but cheerful nonetheless. She gave off an overwhelming sense of calmness and anyone who embraced it would start to feel incredibly relaxed. Of all the things Amphitrite wanted to do, going to this party wasn't one of them. She still wore the purple dress as she had planned, but apart from that she very obviously did not want to be there. She was still on edge and wanted very much not to be anywhere near Zeus right now. She wasn't sure she could hold it together very long and only intended to stay as long as her emotions would bear with her.
She had chosen what seemed to be the most secluded corner she could find and simply sat. It seemed the best option. She approached no one and simply sat there, legs crossed and hands folded in her lap completely silent. Lovely though she looked, she was a mess.

Achilles had appeared with his mother on his arm, proud and stoic as ever. Achilles was used to such formal events and wore a suit that both made him look sharp and presentable. It looked good against his strong jawline and blonde hair.
As they entered, though Amphitrite had huddled herself away in the corner he took notice of that forlorn look as if she had been dragged here. There were a few gods and other immortals Achilles himself would rather distance himself from lest his temper went off. He had also heard enough from his mother that something wasn't right with the Earthshaker, and it looked as if he'd failed to show. Letting go of his mother's arm he made the walk toward the sea queen.

She hadn't even talked with her own sister yet. She was still in the grieving process, even if she knew it would all be better eventually.
A hand raised to squeeze the bridge of her nose momentarily, "Please don't take this the wrong way, but I am not in the best of states to entertain in any way." That was when she finally looked at the person who had come over.
Her expression didn't change but something in her eyes suggested she was fine with this. "Ah, hello nephew. Forgive me, but right now I'm simply not good company. You can stay or go join the soon-to-be-drunkenness." Because that was more than likely in this setting.

Hector had looked in another direction when Achilles saw him, the face of a man he would never forget. Achilles' chin jutted up high, his arrogance now raining down in folds. With so many in one place, it was only fuel for the fire. He walked up toward his old foe, that tall and graceful walk whipping around like a cat before he met his eyes.

He looked Hector over, his annoyance growing at the man's petty retorts. After all these years and it was a face he never wanted to see again, they were alike in more ways. Andromache had been fussing over Hector and herself for days, not knowing what was overdressed or underdressed. Plus she was starting to barely show and she couldn't wear anything too tight or too loose because the gods always read into things. So finding something suitable had been challenge enough until she found something simple. People would really have to be looking for it to notice any "weight change".
Andromache had really hoped this wouldn't happen. She didn't want to be there, let alone run into the one man on the planet she wanted nothing more than to rip to shreds. Combine that with being pregnant and hormonal and there was no telling what she'd do if Achilles started throwing insults.
She tensed up the moment she saw Achilles. It was good that Hector made that small movement because it kept her at bay, because the moment her eyes fell on that Spartan pig she had the very strong urge to strangle him. "At least it doesn't run in the family," she said tensely. "If you'll excuse me," she said to them both, but to Hector alone she said, "I'm going to be with Cassandra, when you're done."

Apollo didn't want to be here. He assumed that, on some level, most of the others in attendance agreed with him. His family didn't have the best history with the hostess, and the grudge Apollo held against Hera still smoldered somewhere deep in his belly. But he also wasn't stupid, and he'd pissed off his father enough times to know what not showing up might bring him.
He'd dressed simply - in a dark shirt and jacket, no tie - and arrived with his mother and sister. He didn't plan to stray far from either of them for the evening; he still didn't trust his father's wife in the same room with his mother.

And yet there was still that hidden longing to impress Zeus. He had once cared for her and he had been her one and only husband at one time.
Her children were far more important to her, though. Tonight she was focused on them and would listen to whatever the host and hostess needed to say. She dressed semi-formally and she felt pretty, something she didn't always feel outright. She hung onto her sons arm, smiling to those she felt comfortable with. Almost.
He'd barely had a chance to react in any way when he saw Eros approach her. His body tensed and he took in a sharp breath. He very much wanted to swoop in, punch Eros in the face, and whisk Daphne away. He had no control over that feeling, but over time it had gotten easier to resist the urges to chase her, to protect her. To keep her as his own. Punching Eros was mostly his own feelings.
Instead, he placed a hand on his mother's and smiled, albeit a bit wanly. "If you need anything, mother, just say the word."

There were times, few and far between, that Daphne wanted to be a tree again. Right now was one of them. She'd felt Apollo before he'd walked in, and even now the sheer panic had driven her into a corner that was the farthest away from the sun-god. She even worried how her dress may get attention, which was beyond silly.
The only reason she didn't outright run was because he was blocking her exit, and unless she grew wings she wasn't about to leap over the railings. She hated it, hated how her life was so ruled by a curse. She tried being stronger then it, and she succeeded sometimes, but now she didn't feel so strong.
She felt like the only nymph at this party, and would run the minute she had a chance.

Eros flitted around like a lightening bug, bright, beaming and ecstatic. So many faces and so many opportunities. It was like having the entire pantheon on his show. Clapping his hands Eros meandered about, a kid on a sugar rush. He'd seen his mother, father and even Dionysus wandering about.
He nearly skipped over when he saw Daphne with a bright grin on his face, which grew wider in seeing Apollo also within distance.
Eros had cleaned up, looking snazzy in his suit ehh he'd picked out proudly himself, only Hedone had chosen the tie.
"Daaaaaaappphhhnneee," he said in a sing-song voice as he approached.

It was easy, too easy, to shift from panicked to anger. Eros had ruined her life, all because he'd wanted to get back at Apollo. And maybe the sun-god had deserved it, but she hadn't.
So she straightened, glaring at the Love god. She didn't care if she earned his anger. She just wanted him away, and to leave her alone. "Go. Away." She felt naked without her weapons, bow or spear, and she couldn't hope to win in a fight with him. But she'd still try. "I don't want to talk to you. I don't want to have anything to do with you. Go bother someone else."

"Hey now," he said in a pout, "I'm trying to help." He grinned madly now checking to see if Apollo had seen. "I told you before I didn't mean to get you wrapped up in all that, if I could fix it I would," only with him there it wasn't as dull a pain as it had been before.
"But I wanted to chat with you," he beamed.

She glared up to him, not caring if she'd earn his wrath. There wasn't anything more he could do to her. Her fingers curled up in a fist, not even caring if Apollo saw or not anymore. "then fix it. Find a way. You ruined my life with your petty game." She shook her head, "I have nothing to say to you. Not now. Not ever."

Eros got a mischievous look in his eyes as he settled them over on Apollo who looked like he was losing his little pow-wow party. His grin got bigger as if to push the god over this way. Eros didn't much like Mr. Sun, and the friendly part that actually liked Daphne honestly wanted to help.
It was like pouring lemon juice on a paper cut.
"Wait. Wait here," he said bouncily at Daphne as he skipped slightly out of the crowd to pull that uptight Sun God over.

Cassandra had shown no interest at all in going to a party full of gods and had made it clear she wanted only to avoid all of them. Yet when the night had come, Cassandra had appeared in her brother's room in a simple gray dress. She wanted to come to the party and refused to listen to reason.
So now here she was, watching everyone with interest and curiosity, feeling shy and nervous and a little too exposed. But she was here now and there was no prophesies to be told.

After Andromache's escape from her own rage at Achilles she headed straight for her sister-in-law. There was a forced smile as she approached but she made no mention of the Spartan. Apart from Hector, Cassandra really was the only person in the entire penthouse she wanted anything to do with. With their luck Helen would decide to show up and bring everyone to their deaths.
"You know, you look lovely tonight. I really love that dress on you," she said as she came up to Cassandra.

"Pretty young things," Cassandra whispered without looking at the woman who was (and had been) sister. "Lambs into the den of lions."
She looked at Andromache then, her expression all confusion and concern. "Why have we come here?"

It wasn't every day that Psyche got dressed up. Actually, being the wife of Eros that wasn't entirely true. It wasn't every day she got dressed up for other people to see. Even Hedone had been dolled up and Psyche couldn't get over how beautiful her daughter looked.
Bringing Hedone had been a decision she was torn on. She wanted to leave her at home with a sitter, but she knew Aphrodite would want to see her. Then Psyche started to go through scenes in her head of what Aphrodite would say or do if she didn't approve of her granddaughter coming to this party. Looking around, Psyche didn't feel uncomfortable about the decision since everyone seemed to be minding themselves. So far.
Though she did spot Eros after he'd wandered off. Naturally he was bothering someone and Psyche didn't know whether to go bother him bothering Daphne. She decided against it because the girl could take care of herself and Eros would eventually come back to his wife and daughter. So Psyche and Hedone took to mingling, Psyche keeping her eyes open for Ariadne or anyone else she'd enjoy talking with. "Are you hungry?" She asked Hedone as a waiter came by with a tray of hors d'oeuvres.

Ariadne had come, half willingly, but the minute Dionysus had wandered off to go talk to Aphrodite, she'd been left to her own devices and looked for those willing to speak to her.
She'd made sure she had dressed in her finest and Dionysus had certainly approved of it (as she recalled they'd barely made it here in the first place with how much he'd liked her dress). But she still worried. She was only a minor goddess, and many of the Olympians frightened her.
So when she saw Psyche and Hedone she grinned and made her way to the two. "Psyche!" She paused before the two, feeling at ease around the other former mortal. "I was looking for you. You look gorgeous." She smiled to Hedone then, "As do you little princess. The fairest of them all." Then she went to hug Psyche, "Dionysus is talking to Aphrodite, you have a bit." she whispered to her friend. She understood some of Psyche's hesitation to deal with the Love goddess.

Unlike almost everyone else there, Athena hadn't gone to such lengths as to buy a new gown or party dress. She had stuck with her usual attire that she wore to work. It didn't matter to her whether what she wore impressed anyone else there. She had no one to impress or prove something to. She was here because her King and Queen commanded it and she wasn't going to try and sway their opinions of her. She knew she had her father's respect and that was enough.
For the time being she stayed close to where her father stood, not really talking to anyone but she did offer smiles and half-waves to those to came in with whom she hadn't had awkward pasts. One of them was Trion, to whom she waved a little more friendlily and reserved a more genuine smile. She hadn't seen him in a long time and though she wanted to meander over there she took note of the little crowd around Amphitrite. The goddess looked a mess and the scene screamed keep out, so keep out she did.

The party had gone on for long enough. It was time to set wrong things back to right. She'd whispered this to her husband, who had reacted exactly like she'd wanted. She'd smiled as Hades had been grabbed by Kratos and brought before her.
She'd made him kneel, not even caring when Zeus had walked away. She'd deal with this on her own. "My brother, still so defiant. Even when you know you have nothing to gain from it." With a wave of her hand she brought attention to herself.
"Subjects to Olympus. Tonight we gather so justice may be done. Our laws may be old, the mortals may have forgotten them but we cannot. We obey them, for we must. You all know that the Lord of Sea is no more. The price for defying your Lord. Now the Lord of the Dead defies him once more. Even the three Sons of Cronus must obey laws written by themselves."
Long nails dragged along Hades' cheek, "you are upsetting the balance. The laws are clear. You have Persephone for a certain amount of months, then she goes to her mother. Release her."

Demeter had come closer as soon as Hera had began to speak, she knew what her role was here. Persephone too had drawn close and she looked across at the young woman she felt like she didn't even know her. This woman was a stranger, shaped like a mewling brat that Demeter had never been able to escape until now.
Persephone watched her mother with equal disinterest.
"Hades doesn't hold me against my will," Persephone said, her voice loud and clear across the silenced room. "I'm not going anywhere."
Demeter made no reaction other than to add, "and I don't want her. Hades can keep the child, she is of no interest to me."

From the conversation Hera knew things had already changed too much. Demeter was supposed to fight for Persephone. Hera couldn't care less what any of Zeus' bastards wanted. The only reason Persephone had been saved from Hera's wrath was because Demeter had kept her so caged.
She looked to Hades, then glanced to Kratos. "Punishment is still expected." She took Hades' chin, uncaring about the hatred behind the blue eyes. "We can't kill you big brother, but perhaps you'll remember your place now." She stepped back, unwilling to get blood on her dress, "your opinions matter little. The arrangement was clear. Rules cannot be broken. The girl will go home with her mother. It's high summer. Your place besides him is during the winter."

Kratos nodded at Hera's glance, ready to inflict as much pain as possible upon her command. This was Zeus' will. Their King had told Kratos to follow these orders and he would.
"My place," Persephone said coldly, "is here."
Demeter laughed, low and cold. "Stupid girl," Demeter just smiled. "Hera will destroy you both."
