Samson had picked up a second job at the museum when he wasn't teaching twice a week at the local college on biblical studies. It was now no different than it had been when he lived in San Francisco. His only regret was he'd seen less and less of Hebe as times waned on. She was living with Hercules, and Samson had once again found himself alone. He'd kept his mind distracted as he often did during these slow times. He needed the extra work not just for the money but for the peace of mind. Delilah was better left alone, but it did not mean Samson didn't desire her every day and night.

Her face was burned into his memory. Glimpses of the woman he truly saw would forever haunt him. She would always see herself as nothing else, which was not okay with him. He couldn't force her, he never would. She was who she was, but he hated himself for never being able to break free of her spell. They were forever tied together. It was maddening. He found himself strolling down her district. Her home and place of business. She was likely to have a customer, which would set his mind at ease. Then he could go on and not set foot in this place again. Where she had other men. Yet, he couldn't tear himself away as he stepped up on the stoop and knocked, walking stick in hand.

The wonderful thing about being chained by no one was the simple luxury of setting her own schedule. She entertained when she wanted to, and didn't need to look for new things.

She kept herself busy, kept her walls up, so Samson wouldn't keep creeping back in. Some days she managed. Some days she didn't.

Today was a quiet day, where she could just relax and breathe. The knock made her frown but she opened the door, surprised to find Samson at the other end. They'd been avoiding one another, because this thing between them was confusing and she didn't know how to deal with it. Still she stepped back to let him in, "Samson."

He expected to hear another voice on the other side with her when she answered the door. It would give him a reason to be jealous, but also give him a reason to start a fight. He wasn't even sure why he was there. He just couldn't get her out of his head. It was as if his own body were defying him by coming here. His mind told him no.

She wasn't sure of this. He knew that. Neither was he. The cane came first as he stepped inside, the familiar blurs and shadows of her home coming into view.

"I was in the area."

She raised an eyebrow at that, even if he couldn't see it, because he was never just in the area. She lived far away from where he was for a reason. And while she shouldn't let him in, she did.

Her apartment was empty save for the faint strains of music and herself. "So I see." She closed the door behind him before walking to her couch and sitting down. "Why?"

He stayed near the door, having already forgotten the layout of her apartment. He tapped his walking stick against the path lightly before joining her on the couch.

"I don't know," it was an honest response. He'd just found himself walking this way when he really had no reason to be there. She was always on his mind. "I took the wrong bus after work and realized I hadn't seen you in some time." Why couldn't he just hate her?

She shrugged and looked to him. Despite herself, she realized she had missed him. He couldn't accept her as she was, and she couldn't accept him as he was. They argued more then anything, but he was still the only person she felt safe with. He saw more in her then just someone to have sex with. "It's good to see you." It was honest. It had been a while.

She sighed and set her hand on his, "do you want a drink?" She could at least pretend that whatever was between them wasn't horribly complicated.

His hand warmed against her touch, their softness a contrast against his coarse ones. While their encounters often ended with him in her bed, he found that right now he had desired her company. To hear her soft breath against his ear, feel those raven curls tickle his neck, and sense her heartbeat as clearly as he did his own. Whatever his God wanted him to do with Delilah he caved nearly every time, forgetting what it was that had driven them apart.

He too would rather forget how much being near her frightened him. "Yes." He nodded setting the walking stick to the arm of the couch. "Water would be fine."

She smirked and shook her head but rose to get him the water. He still didn't drink and she never made him. It was the subtle things that showed she was different then the harsh front she gave everyone else. She handed him the water once she returned and poured a glass of wine for herself.

Then she leaned back into the couch and was made aware of the awkwardness between them that only ended when they kissed. "So. How was your day?"

He could smell the wine though she gave him water. She always smelled of spices. Even her wine was inticing, but he would always refuse it.

The day had dragged on. What would have been a short night ended up feeling long. "Draining," he said with a tired voice, drinking his water and settling comfortably into the couch. He rubbed his temples from the stress. There had been more on his mind as of late than he even realized.

She knew she shouldn't, but she made her life out of doing things she really shouldn't. With a sigh she set her glass down and set her hands on his shoulders. She had more skills then most gave her credit for and massaging the stress out of his muscles seemed like something she ought to do. Even if it was a bad idea. "Well, relax now. The day is at an end."

Her hands felt wonderful on those powerful, tense muscles. She was a witch being able to drain that kind of soreness out with only a few simple turns of her fingers. His head hung low, letting go of the aches of the day, relaxing himself at her hands. There was a low mumble of words under his breath, maybe even soft groans.

She smiled to the noises, continuing to work until she felt his muscles relax more. She'd done this before, she knew that, with him and others but it seemed different then when she did this for strangers.

For a moment she brushed her fingers through his hair before sitting back and sipping her wine, "better?"

"Your hands are magic," he spoke in a breathless whisper. He appreciated her efforts, and did not take them as a sexual advance. His eyes closed at the soft tickle through his hair. It sent a shiver up his spine. He'd expected a little more and found himself somewhat bothered that she didn't continue the gesture. He reached for her hand but she had already slipped back into her seat. "Much. Thank you."

She smiled to the compliment, "thank you." He wasn't to first to tell her that, but she had enough subtlety not to bring it up. Still, the entire time it reminded her of the nights he came to just sit with her in comfortable quiet. It hadn't ever been something she hadn't appreciated. Few men ever came to her to just sit and do nothing.

"Hungry?" She still needed to do something, because otherwise this would get awkward.

"Stay a moment," he begged. He knew she was antsy, he could feel it radiating off her, no matter how little she said. "Then you can fix me whatever you like." He smiled, leaning in and laying his head in her lap.

She blinked but didn't move. It was horribly familiar, with the sounds of market replaced by sounds of cars and she couldn't help but relax and give in. He'd always had that affect on her.

With a smile she set her fingers in his hair. She missed the long length, but she wouldn't say anything about it. Seeing how she was responsible for it, it'd kill the mood pretty quick.

It was easy and familiar to just run her fingers through his hair and not think.

It was too easy to fall back into, but the both of them seemed to be within their own world when they were together. His hair was still soft and silky. He still fell victim to her touch.

His eyes closed finding himself in a dream-like state. Not asleep, but going back before they'd condemned themselves and forgone their hearts.
