WHO: Patrick and George
WHAT: Lamenting things
WHEN: Monday
WHERE: Their apartment



The call came in the early afternoon from one of Joey's friends who felt sorry for Patrick. She informed Patrick that Joey had been released from hospital that morning but still didn't want to see him. Patrick hung up and felt the immense need to go lose himself in drink.

Instead of leaving the house though, Patrick chewed on his lip and then called for his brother. He was tired of disappointing George and he felt like ever since he had come to live with George had been a constant disappointment. He moved out into the living room and called again, "George?!" Joey hated him and Michael was dead and everything was fucked up. He just wanted his brother.

The thought that it might not have been quick was horrifying. And Patrick knew he shouldn't have, but his mouth opened and words poured out. "But what if he couldn't get away? Michael said he couldn't get into Lucifer's wards so what if...what if he was trapped somewhere inside the wards and he couldn't get out?! Fuck, fuck. What if-?" Patrick had to stop because he knew the things Lucifer had done to Joey, and he couldn't imagine the joy Lucifer would take if he had Michael in a similar position.

"Shh, no, Michael's too smart to get caught like that," George said, as much to reassure himself as it was to reassure Patrick. "He knows Lucifer. They're brothers."

Patrick swallowed roughly and he tried to even fathom wanting to kill any of his siblings. The very thought was disgusting to him. He leaned against his brother's shoulder. "I hope so. All I can think of is what that asshole did to my friend. I keep having nightmares about it. That I'm standing outside the door and I can't get through the wards so all I can do is watch him break my friend."

George wrapped Patrick up in a hug, squeezing as tight as he dared. He wished he could just reach into Patrick's brain and banish the nightmares, but that wasn't a talent he was gifted with.

"I'm so sorry. God, I wish I could just kill him for you."

Glad for the hug, Patrick let out a heavy sigh. "Don't kill anyone," he whispered. "I don't want to dream about him hurting you, okay? I already have nightmares about...pfft. Nevermind."

"Hmm?" George said, turning a little so he could see Patrick's face. "What other nightmares are you having?"

"Not all the time," he said, suddenly feeling a little bad about saying anything. "Just since you said Mary hurt you I keep dreaming about it. And if Lucifer ever laid a hand on you, I couldn't-" Patrick shook his head and then he buried it in George's shoulder, even though his brother was now at a weird angle for that.
