WHO: Greed & Zoe
WHEN: Backdated last Tuesday night
WHERE: Zoe's apartment
WHAT: Can we talk?
WARNING: Objects in mirror may be closer than they appear
The apartment was dark, the only light on in Zoe's bedroom, her door closed. The place was too empty and quiet and she tried to convince herself that she wanted to be alone right now anyways. Zoe was in her jammies of PJ bottoms and a tank top and she sat on her messy bed with a book in her lap, only occasionally stopping to make notes. She was trying to keep her mind off things. She'd turned her phone off since the day before, since.. it happened. She didn't know what would be worse, hearing Greed's excuse or finding out she didn't have any messages from him at all. Both scenarios were pretty bad so she just left the blasted thing off.
Her morning with Patience had drained her and left her more confused and upset than ever. She tried hard to not let what he was saying get to her but she knew it did. And she couldn't even ask Greed about it because he was God knows where.. who cared, he wasn't here. She felt like an idiot.

She sat down on her side of the window, "You can pick the lock. But I'll just lock it again before you can open the window."
His snazzy look wasn't lost on her and while he looked really handsome, it just made her realize that he had better things to do with his time. She nodded and still spoke to him through the glass, "Yes.. and I didn't answer the door when you banged on it. Normally it means go away not please climb up my fire escape and try to break in."

The sad face was tempting but then he mentioned the cops and Zoe shrugged, "Well lucky for you, you know exactly what to do when someone calls the cops on you." and she gave him a knowing look. Alright, so maybe she was still sore from his little ditch and run.

"Is that what you're mad about?"

She shook her head, "I'm not mad." she was mad. She didn't look at him but backtracked, "And if I was mad, it wouldn't be at you. Or at Freddie." not that he knew that Patience did a number on Zoe's head that morning, "If I was mad, I'd be mad at me for ever listening to either of you assholes."
Out of all the things Patience had said, Zoe hated that the thing that bugged her the most was the most insignificant of all..

Greed wasn't helping his case. As always, honest but not the best answer. She put her hands on the sill and looked at him, "And you dropped mine as if it didn't matter." she hadn't lied earlier, she wasn't mad at him. She was mad at herself.
She walked away from the window to go back to her bed.

But probably not.
He jiggled the lock, pushing up on the window when he'd gotten the latch to pop. He went to fling it open only to have it open partially. Hardly enough for him to squeeze through. He might have been able to get a leg through, and he damn well was going to try and fit his whole body through.

She sat on the bed and watched him, wincing a little as that opening was not big enough to support a grown man of his size. Was he.. she put a hand on the bed, almost waiting to go help him if he needed it because he was headed in the right direction for an injury.

He pulled his leg out trying with the other as if he wasn't too big to get through the opening. Then he just went in head first, sliding half his body through, still just as stuck as before.

She quickly went over to him being stuck and wriggling around. She put a hand on his back, "Stop, stop.." and cracked the base of her palm against the stuck part of the window twice then pushed it up all the way so he could tumble in on the floor. Like typical New York things, to make it work, you had to show it tough love.
If Zoe could read his mind, she would have been so surprised. Greed had the biggest leverage on her without his sinly influence, by his real face and company. How much she valued him was the leverage he had.. but if he put no value on himself, it would be difficult to see that.
She winced and looked at him, reaching a hand down to help him up.

"Well that was fun," he brushed himself off having crumpled his nice jacket and tie. It had gotten him inside without blue and red lights flashing in his face.

She gave him a look and put her hands on her hips, "Now what?" since he'd worked damn hard to get in. She had a strong feeling that he hadn't planned too far ahead.

Of course now that she had brought up Patience he was curious what had been said. "I forgot the whip cream." He teased.

The problem with having no one was she didn't have anyone to talk to about Greed. Everything that Patience had beat her up with.. she had no one to talk to about it. The person that made her feel better was Greed and he was the problem.
But she'd been bashed up by Patience twice, once at the eatery and then again at his house, she hadn't seen Greed.. she was so confused, so hurt but at the same time.. she stepped forward and put her arms around him, resting her head in the crook of his neck as she softly said, "Hi.." she needed a hug and there wasn't a line of people waiting to give her one.

She dived in with her arms and it felt a little strange. Lust babied him sometimes, so did others when he pulled the corresponding mood and face. This was a whole new face, still a part of his overall, versatile nature.
"If you wanted whip cream that bad I passed a shop-and-go down the street."

Her voice was a little muffled and very tired sounding, "I kinda never want to leave the apartment again." She sighed, "Instead of me promising I'll never drop your hand again, and you promising you'll never run off like that again, and both of us breaking those promises.. how about next time we get hungry we just order in?" she rested her chin on his chest and looked up at him with something broken in her eyes that she wanted to fix.
