Doc climbed out of the car not giving Kate the chance to fume off with her mouth as he stepped inside. She would find him at the bar. She was one wild tiger that had to get in the last word. Maybe that's why she hated him so much, because when he died he took the words with him that she didn't ever want to say knowing she wouldn't see him again. History had changed that now.
