In more then one way, Hades was glad Persephone had picked up on the issue with Makaria. While he tried to be a good father, he honestly said he hadn't a clue what he was doing. He'd tried to impress on his daughter the dangers of the world, but she'd brushed them off. He hadn't wished for an argument so he'd let it go.

Hopefully his wife knew how to do this with more finesse. He didn't want to resolve to ordering his daughter around. He wanted her to experience the world. Just, not so openly.

That and he was still sore over his little brother's display. Hades was smart enough to see what Zeus was saying by talking to Makaria. 'I can do this', his little brother was saying 'and you can't stop me'. It made him wish he could send the Furies to Zeus, or just hit the bastard. But Zeus was Hades' King, like it or not, and it wasn't the first time Hades felt like he was shackled by that. Or made to regret how he lost his rightful place on his father's throne.

He sipped from some scotch as he waited for the girls, trying to think of a way to send a message back to Zeus that wouldn't involve in him losing his head or getting imprisoned. If he let this go unanswered, Zeus may just think Makaria was up for grabs. And he wouldn't let his daughter get hurt by Zeus and his antics.

"Your father is speaking the truth," Persephone said with a nod. "Not all people are like that, not at all. But it's best to be very careful and maybe be absolutely sure someone has your best interests at heart before going anywhere with them alone. In fact it might be a good idea to have one of us meet them first. At the very least have Melinoe meet them.

"You trust people and that's a very sweet thing, but it's dangerous too. I know because I was the same way. You get to choose when and if you do anything with a boy. These people...Zeus, Poseidon, Theseus...they don't believe that."

Makaria looked between the both of them for a long time, feeling very tired. It was hard to navigate this world, and now she was behind told that even her heroes couldn't be trusted. Her heroes used to be the only ones she had.

"I want to go back," Makaria said with defeat. "To the Isles."

Persephone slid down to the floor and she knelt in front of Makaria so she could hold the girl's hand. "My darling, this world is a wonderful place, you just have to learn how to be in it. I know it is hard, beautiful girl. We're here to help you. All you need do is ask."

She reached up to brush the girl's cheek. "We worry about you, but that doesn't mean you should close yourself off."

"Everyone has people here and places they fit," Makaria said to her sadly. "But I don't fit and I don't understand anything. All I've ever had is my heroes and now I don't even have them. And," she added, looking at her father, "I don't want to be taken away from you."

"You have to make your place, no one has theirs ready-made," she said, kissing Makaria's hands. "And you will. Like your father says, some of your warriors are here and they can help. Perseus is here too and I trust him." She had spent a little time with Perseus and he was kind and jovial. "He could show you around. No one...no one is letting you get taken away, darling girl."

Makaria had no idea how Hades and Persephone decided which of her heroes could be trusted and which couldn't. Were they not all equally worthy? Had they not all made it to the Isles of the Blessed where only the greatest of men could tread? It was all making her head hurt.

"It's exhausting here," Makaria admitted to them. "Every time I feel like I'm starting to understand, it turns out I don't understand any of it."

"Exactly," Persephone nodded. "It's going to be okay, Makaria. You just need time."
