Alexander had known, when he entered the city, that it wouldn't take his mother very long to find him. But he hadn't know she was in New York, so it was more like he had found her this time around. Which was fine, he would have gone to see her either way.

Turning up at her building precisely at noon with a bottle of wine, he pressed the buzzer and waited for her to answer.

The one true constant in Olympias' life had been Alexander: He was the most important thing her life, and that had only intensified since her immortal rebirth. Before she'd been a real woman, but now she was a part of her epic son's story. She didn't mind: Olympias loved his strength and his fame. She saw it as a testament to her own greatness. She felt she had groomed her son well, making him into the unstoppable force he became. He had always been more like her than Philip.

When the door went, Olympias smiled and went to open it. "Aléxandros," she said warmly, taking the bottle from his hand so that she could wrap her arms around him and kiss his cheek.
