Thomas watched his son leave and then he turned to his sisters. "I'm going to eat a hamburger," he said dreamily. "I don't...know how, but I am." He couldn't wait. He'd wanted to eat for a week and now he felt like he actually could manage it. Maybe this brain surgery thing wasn't so shit after all.
Charlotte turned to Maddy and she grinned wickedly. "Lena was just saying he's enthusiastic,"
"Oi," he protested. "Of course I'm enthusiastic, I've been lonely for nineteen years."
Charlotte gave her brother a little frowny face. "Poor bubby."
"You are totally ruining my burger buzz," he joked.
