Eleanor was at the end of her rope with John. She really did love her son, but hitting his girlfriend was not something she was just going to let slide. But for right now, making sure the girl was alright was more important. If she needed someone to comfort her, to be a maternal figure in her life, then Eleanor could do that.

She went straight to Richard's from work, pulling up to the curb and parking her car. She took a moment to collect herself, to switch from CEO mode into a mothering one. Then she ascended the steps and knocked.

When he heard the knock he immediately went to get it, pleased to find his mother. Plus he got to intercept her.

This was why keeping the whole 'we're about 800 years old, give or take' secret was a pain in his ass. He needed George to come tell Isabelle of the truth, so she would understand more.

Yet he smiled, "Mother," he gave in his native tongue, knowing Isabelle couldn't understand the dialect. "She doesn't know, by the way. And you don't look the correct age to have mothered me." He sighed, "But thank you for coming."
