WHO: Klymene & Prometheus
WHEN: Wednesday, late morning
WHERE: Prometheus' studio
WHAT: Momma's coming for a visit!
WARNINGS:
Klymene and her husband had just bought themselves an apartment on the Upper East Side, one that had a studio for Klymene to work out of and a pool in the building. Both of these things were essential to Klymene.
Today though she had come in search of her son. Three of them were still a mystery to her, but Prometheus, her little builder, he was easy to find: Theon Desmotes, a sculptor. 'Desmotes', 'chained' in the Greek and a title of his. The first time she'd seen his art she knew it was him but only now did she come to find him.
She walked into the studio and looked around, curious to see his work where it lay around. Her son was not immediately apparently though and so instead she looked through his art.

Some of his art was unfinished, some of it wasn't. He'd placed aside one for Jade. He figured she might appreciate it.
He'd heard the buzzer to his door and came down the stairs, assuming it was a client or one of his friends or Aletheia. He frowned to the figure. It was familiar, both in figure and in feeling, but he couldn't be sure. "Mother?"

Klymene turned to Prometheus and smiled as she took him in. Still too skinny but he looked well enough. Much better than being chained to a rock.
She crossed over to Prometheus, arms reaching out so he could embrace her. "Hello, son."

This visit had stunned him. He had far from expected to ever see her again. Smiling he returned the hug before drawing back. "It is you. You should have called. Let me known. I would have cleaned the place up." He looked her over before he took her hand and smiled. "Does Epimetheus know you're here?"

"I thought a surprise visit was the way to do it," Klymene told him, enjoying his happiness and glad that was his reaction. One could never tell with their family, after all. All five of them - mother, father, and sons - had faced the wrath of Olympus to different degrees, Klymene getting off lightest when she was forced to serve Hera. Some days it seemed her husband didn't quite forgive her for that.
"Is Epimetheus nearby then?" Klymene asked with a raised eyebrow of interest. "It's only you I knew of. You made yourself easy to find, Theon Desmotes. I recognised your work."

He shrugged, "I always go by that. It's a reminder." Smiling he motioned her to a seat, "please sit, and thank you. I try. He is, but he had to hide." He paused, not sure how his mother would take this news. He always thought his parents had been disappointed with how little he'd rebelled against the Olympians.
"The mountain gods are squabbling again. He took his wife out of harms way so he is laying low." He tried changing the topic then, "Aletheia is here. You'd love her. She's gorgeous. Works for me now and again."

Klymene's expression darkened at the mention of the Olympians and there was venom barely disguised in her tone. "Yes, I know of their dramas. Iapetos and I made the choice to come here because of it."
But Klymene had no desire to speak of them any more than Prometheus did and so, sitting, she looked over at her son with curiosity. "He's married? To a mortal?" Klymene wasn't sure if she approved of that, so she'd have to meet the girl before deciding. She wasn't sure if anyone was really good enough for her boys.
"Aletheia," Klymene said with a small smile. "Yes, the spirit of truth, surely one of your finest works there."

He smiled to the mention of Aletheia. He did not think he would see his mortal son again. Aletheia was all he had now. "She's more then that to me mother. She is my daughter, although not of blood. She's everything I wished her to be. But I imagine you'll like fussing over her. She's not good with mortals. They have too much of her opposite in them. I'm hoping you can give her some company. I made her, but I don't always understand her."
He smiled to the mention of his father, "him, too? Ask him if he'd like to meet my girl. Family dinner?" But he knew he had to explain things first, "you never heard?"
Frowning he sat down, "no. Pandora." He watched his mother, knowing she would know of the tale. "He's still devoted to her."

It shouldn't have surprised her that Prometheus thought of the spirit that way, as he had such warmth and softness for the mortals he'd formed as well. That gentleness towards them didn't extend to Klymene, who may have been something like the grandmother of the human race but found herself apathetic to them on a whole. Mankind was, in general, rather disappointing to her with their lack of goals. "It's unlikely that I am the perfect match for you girl. Truth has never been my forte" Fame relied too heavily on falsehoods, deceptions, and exaggerations for Klymene to honour truthfulness that highly.
"A family dinner I will agree too though. I told Iapetos that I would bring you to our home, and I didn't expect to also find Epimetheus. Your father will pleased with that." She cocked her head to the side at his question, unsure of what he was asking her about.
"Pandora," Klymene said, and the distaste was obvious. The name rolled on her tongue like poison. "Apparently all my words of advice to him about keeping away from that nasty little bitch have been ignored. She has always been nothing but trouble."

He shrugged, "I'm trying to find companionship for her. I don't like seeing her so lonely." He had to ask at the very least. He smiled to the mention of his father. He'd always looked up to the older Titan, "I'll tell Epimetheus next time I see him. He'll be happy to see you both."
He sighed to her distaste and toyed with his lighter, offering a shrug. "I warned him as well. He loves her. And for his sake I don't argue the point." As his counterpart, Epimetheus was too dear to him to risk angering. "We don't get along, me and her." He gave a humorless laugh, "she send me a little eagle statue even. That was a lovely gesture."

"I love all of you boys, but you all have your downfalls," Klymene said, massaging her temple for a moment as she thought about what was to be done with Pandora. "And Epimetheus' foolish attachment to that thing is his." Her eyes flashed angrily at the mention of Pandora's 'gift' and she almost sneered. "Well, as his mother I know what is best for his sake, and it is not Pandora. I'll remove her myself if I have to."
Finally she held up a hand to silence his next words and to silence her own. "But enough. Enough talk of the crimes of Olympus. Let not those thieves bother us when they aren't even here. Less than a minute in the door and already it's come to them." She leaned over and took both of Prometheus' hands, looking into his eyes. "Tell me that you are well and happy, my little boy."

He wanted to argue that killing Pandora would not be the best thing. He knew his brother, and he knew his mother may not know best in this matter. But he'd have a quiet word with his brother and hope Epimetheus understood.
He smiled at her and nodded, letting her take his hands. "I am mother. I have people I care about, my studio is doing well." He grinned, "I'm free. What more do I need?"

"Good, very good," Klymene said with real pleasure. His freedom was of utmost importance to her and if anyone ever tried again to change him then Klymene would tear them apart with her bare hands if if it meant her own death. No one was ever going to harm her children again, not after the last time.
"And," she said, "you've been making a name for yourself. I've been following your work for a while and the name Desmotes is well respected in the art world, though with your talent you should be more famous. He smiled to the praise, "I keep a low profile. Enough to keep me comfortable, but not enough to get too much attention. I've been thinking about doing a gallery though." He frowned before smiling, "I have seen it. It's lovely. I didn't know it was yours. I would have gotten some of it. You'd like my neighbor, Jade. She's great herself, and there's Aidan too."

"I don't really drink either," Klymene said with a dismissive gesture of the hand, "so coffee will be fine. Black, no sugar."
"A low profile will never serve you well enough," Klymene said seriously. "You deserve so much more than that." She worried about her boy squandering his talent when his name should have been known by everyone. "A gallery showing is a very good start. I have contacts that I can set you up with if you need them?" At the mention of the other people she looked interested. "Oh yes? What is it they do?"
Because that was how Klymene formed her impressions of people, not on what they were like but on what they did. She cared little for the temperaments in humans, or if they were good people or bad people, only if they strove for greatness.
