Who: Aidan & Prometheus
What: Morning afters, hangovers and headaches, oh my!
When: Monday afternoonish
Where: Prometheus' apartment
Aidan hadn't regretted a single thing he'd done on his birthday. Not at the time anyway. Mostly because the alcohol was encouraging him along in his shenanigans. That was his story and he was sticking to it, thanks.
He had a vague memory of Prometheus shoving him into a taxi around 3 a.m., then draping himself all over the Titan on the way back. "It's still sorta my birthday, I get to act like an Aidan-blanket until the sun comes up," he'd said, grinning all over his face. He hadn't heard an objection, at any rate.
But now it was Monday, and even though he wasn't going to class all hung over, he still had to wake up and deal with his hangover. Aspirin and water were in order. As soon as he could stand. Trying to put that off as long as possible, he buried his face in his pillow and groaned. "Owwwww, my head," he moaned pitifully.

Prometheus could hardly mind the added affection Aidan had shown him, nor had he tried to keep his hands off the younger mortals. Eventually he'd let Aidan sleep, knowing morning would come too soon.
He'd already had coffee going by the time he heard Aidan get up, and chuckled to the pitiful complaint he heard. Smiling he carried a cup of coffee to the bed, sitting on the side and setting his hand on Aidan's shoulder. "Good morning."
Gently he leaned down and kissed Aidan's cheek, "there's aspirin on the sidetable," he whispered before leaning back and offering the mug. "and coffee."

"G'morning," he mumbled, turning over and cracking an eye open. "I've decided booze is evil. At least until next week."
"You're a god among men. Literally." He snickered at his own terrible joke, then stopped when it made the blood pound in his head. Moving very slowly, he sat up, took the aspirin and washed them down with a swallow of coffee. Knowing they would soon be working helped a little.
"At least this is just the side effect of an awesome birthday," he said. "Stavros didn't make me dance on any tables, did he?"

"Titan," he smirked then. "We're better." Then he laughed and shrugged, "only on a few until I could coax you down from them. He's very interesting, your friend. He has a lot of drive, and a lot of bad encouragement." he took his own cup and smiled to Aidan. "But yet another reminder of why I'm occasionally glad I cannot drink."
He motioned to the kitchen, "there's breakfast when you feel up to moving. I've kept everything dim. I'm glad you had a good birthday."

He groaned at himself. "Of course I did. I'm getting a flashback of 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' and Irish Car Bombs. But yeah, he is. I've known him for a while, he's a good friend to have."
He sucked down some more of his coffee. "And you also can't get hangovers. Be grateful. Be very, very grateful."
"Fooood," he moaned, not even caring he sounded like a zombie. "And I saw that, thank you. I really did, all the people I wanted there were there. Except for maybe Ryan or my mom, but they called so it wasn't all bad."

"Eggs and bacon," he called from the kitchen. "Jade seems to appreciate it when she comes here and sleeps off hangovers." Shaking his head he rose to set his plate aside. "Not a lovely bunch to meet, but I could be biased. One o them did tie me to a rock/" Then he shrugged, "I don't know. I imagine so. The Di Nocti are a fruitful bunch."
"Haughty. And yes apparently they didn't like my design so they felt they had to improve. They all gave her a piece of themselves." He frowned, "sort of. I speak to Elpis now and then and how she explains it is that she is part in the box, and part not. If she was to fully leave the box there would be no more hope. It's all very complicated."

"I haven't even met them, and even from just reading myths on the internet, I still don't want to meet them. Tying people I like to rocks just seals the dislike."
"Oh good lord," he said. "If her brother's Doom, I shudder to think who or what her other siblings might be."
"She sounds fun," he deadpanned. "And I have to wonder what she might have been like if they hadn't 'improved' her. Maybe things might have turned out differently."
"It does sound pretty complicated," he said after a moment, after he'd tried to wrap his head around that. "The world would be lost without Hope, I think, so maybe it's a good thing she's still partly in the box."

With a nod he went to pick up the plates to set them in the sink. "I've learned mortals need proof. Otherwise they think you mad. As an artist sometimes that benefits me, but not always." He gave a soft chuckle then, "They have done worse. Mostly Hera."
He glanced to Aidan, "think of her family as everything that goes bump in the night. They mostly are." Then he sighed, "there are a lot of what if's in the Greek pantheon. Best not to dwell on it."

"Yeah, I read a few things about her. She sounds like a real peach. And by 'peach', I mean 'completely evil and also slightly crazy'. But I've never met her personally, so I could be way off."
'Note to self: look up the Di Nocti when you get home,' he thought to himself. "Sounds like the Boogeyman mixed with the monsters under your bed, the ones your mom always told you weren't real. Only in this case they are."
He nodded, deciding to back off the topic. "As you say, then."
"I think without Hope there'd be no reason for doing much of anything," he said. "Like, without a reason to think things might get better, we'd all just lay down and not get back up. At least that's how I've felt in the past."

He gave an almost sad smile, "I think a lot of it is circumstance and belief for Hera. Not an excuse, but an explanation. Put yourself in her shoes. Being married to Zeus can't be a picnic. Having to deal with all that."

"Awesome, sounds like a plan to me." He wiped off his mouth with a napkin. "What's she like? I read that she was made by Hermes and Hephaestus. And the jar's empty now, right? Since she opened it, and everything."

He chuckled, "nothing wrong with a bit of ego now and again, as long as it doesn't transform into hubris." He nodded, "let me know if you need a hand with that. It's always best you can prove these things."
Shaking his head he rose to set his plate aside.

He laughed. "I'll try not to let it get too out of control," he said, finishing off his last piece of bacon. "And I will, thank you. That definitely helped me with the whole acceptance thing."

"Something we all agree on. Even Hope."

He nodded too. "It does help. It probably also cuts down on the incidents of people running away screaming, I'm guessing?"

Smiling he set his hand on Aidan's cheek, "I am glad you did not give up. And it is how she works. She needs us and we need her." He withdrew his touch and sat back down. "Sort of. I know the Greek concepts of Death are her sibling."
He gave an almost sad smile, "I think a lot of it is circumstance and belief for Hera. Not an excuse, but an explanation. Put yourself in her shoes. Being married to Zeus can't be a picnic. Having to deal with all that."
Then he laughed, "sort of yeah."

Aidan nuzzled into the touch, like a cat. "It was a few years ago, my head was all screwed up. But yeah, I'm glad I didn't either. I would've missed out on a lot of things." He nodded. "I'd still really like to meet her, she sounds awesome."
"Death, hmm?" he asked, trying for chill and not quite getting there. "They sound cheery."
He tilted his head, trying to get his mind around that. "Yeah, I guess that's true. It almost makes me feel a little sorry for her. A bit."
"I guess if you have Hope and Doom, then the boogiemen have to have an opposite somewhere in the enormous Greek pantheon. I hope."

"I doubt you'll have cause to meet Thanatos or the Keres, but I doubt Thanatos is bad. I never met him so I cannot judge." He shrugged, "and it is Death. I doubt any personification of that is cheery."
He shook his head, "there are very few nice personifications. Greeks liked tragedy and drama you know. There's my daughter of course, but she is of a rare breed."

"Hopefully not for a while, anyway," he replied. "But yeah, you're probably right. I can't imagine Death being a happy, smiling sort of being."
"Oh, right," he agreed. "Everything ends in someone dying or cursed or something equally not fun. And Aletheia is your daughter, right? Spirit of truth?"

"Hm," he agreed, "I fashioned her physical body. So yes she is mine in all sense of the word. Love her to bits. I try spoiling her but she's really level headed about that." He smirked. "But it's good having her around. Every father likes having their children near, and I can guess I won't see my boy again." He shrugged. "Life is strange."
"Anyway, you got somewhere to be today or am I taking care of you?"

"I think I actually met her once, though I didn't know that's who she was," he recalled. "I stopped by and you weren't home, and she was there at the same time. She said her name was Verity, and we talked for a little while. She seemed really nice."
"Nowhere to be," he responded. "I technically have Mixed Media today, but I'm not in the mood to listen to my professor lecture on about how painting and metalworking work so harmoniously together. His voice is worse than Ben Stein's. Besides, I would never say no to you taking care of me."
