WHO: Jade & Krishna
WHEN: Sunday night
WHERE: Krishna's place
WHAT: After-movie hanging out and dinner.
WARNINGS: Mostly? Just me talking about movies I haven't seen. (And probably language because Jade does that.)

Krishna had come to pick Jade up from her studio where she was, predictably, still working despite the fact that she'd told him exactly when to pick her up. Jade tended to lose track of time when she was working. So she finished up as quickly as she could and they only ended up missing the trailers and not one glorious second of 7 Khoon Maaf starring the glorious Priyanka Chopra, aka: the only woman that Jade would ever consider switching teams for.

But now they were headed back to Krishna's place, Jade with with their Thai takeaway dinner in her arms and a bottle of wine in her shoulder bag. "I need to get me that fur hat she was wearing," Jade said as they got inside. "How am I even living a fulfilling life without a hat like that?"

The main room of Krishna's apartment was large and open. It was sparsely furnished, home to only one couch, a weathered coffee table, and a television that he rarely used. The kitchen was separated by a bar with no stools, and the short hallway in the back lead to his bedroom (where he also kept his area for puja) and the bathroom. Most of his furnishings were mainly for guest use (usually Jade), except for the bed. The pillow top mattress was one modern invention he was pretty sure he'd have a hard time living without.

Krishna shut the green-painted door behind them, sliding the lock into place. "You'd at least be ready should someone whisk you away to Siberia. I personally thought she might have been hiding some sort of angry animal in it."

"I want one without the angry animal," said Jade as she walked through to the kitchen with the ease of someone who knew the apartment as well as her own. She always felt at home here with him, and she gathered cutlery and bowls for the Thai. "I don't want to get whisked off to Siberia though. You know how much I complain about the cold."

He moved around her to retrieve two glasses from a cabinet, well aware of where she was and where she was going. It looked effortless, and when two people knew each other as long as they had, it usually was.

"It could be a good last-minute defense," he said as he followed her. He was trying to reason, but it was slowly devolving into something childish. "No one would ever expect a rabid mongoose in a dark alley."

"Rabid mongoose?" Jade laughed as she turned to look at him. Her tone was fond as she put things down on the table. "You fucking weirdo. You've been watching too much... something. I don't even know." She opened the merlot bottle and poured them both a glass before she sat down. (There was vodka in his freezer that she'd stashed but she'd probably get to that later.)

He shrugged, laughing as he sat next to her. "They're everywhere in India. Like squirrels in New York. Though I've seen more vicious squirrels, to be honest."

He took his glass in his hand but held off on drinking. He hadn't seen Jade in some time, and preferred to catch up before he'd had too much. Although he swore to himself he would be moderate, those plans didn't always work out. It was best to plan for all outcomes. "What have you been up to? There wasn't much time to talk between pulling you out of work and rushing to the cinema."

"Totally not my fault," Jade told him as she poked a fork into her food. "That glass vase was being all non-cooperative. But I've been busy, been working on this set of bowls for someone who's paying way too much for it but I wasn't going to try and talk them down! Oh, and I met the guy who works in the studio opposite me: he's a sculptor." She smirked at her old friend at that. If anyone knew how sculptors were her kryponite it was Krishna. He'd certainly watched her go crazy over enough of them over the years.

"For as much work and care as you put in, I don't see why they shouldn't pay." It was clear Jade was very talented and enjoyed her craft, and Krishna had fully supported her move from a nine-to-five job to a full-time artist.

When she told him who was occupying the studio next to hers, he opted to start drinking. He wasn't sure the thought and the action were related. It could have just been a coincidence. "Jade. Really? I'm not entirely sure how things like this just seem to fall in your lap. You must have been either very nice or very troublesome to someone in a past life."

"I probably ran over a sculptor in my horse and carriage," Jade said with a bright innocent smile, as she leaned over to steal a forkful of what was on Krishna's plate like an annoying little sister. Then she downed the last half of her glass at once and asked, "so what have you been up to?"

Krishna let out a yelp of surprise when her fork dove into his plate, even though he should have probably expected it. Despite the affront to his dinner, he refilled her glass almost immediately after she emptied it.

"Things have been pretty normal for me. Simple. I did reunite with a very old friend, which was...interesting." He ate slowly, then added as if he remembered suddenly, "Mm! And I've met Damali, of course, whom you've also had the pleasure of meeting."

Meeting other immortals was still something relatively new to Krishna. He still considered himself an incarnation rather than an actual deity, and preferred to spend his time with humans.

"Damali?" Jade frowned as she lifted her glass, and then said, "oh, Datura. Yes, she's gorgeous." When Jade used that word - and she did frequently - it almost always encompassed their personality even more than their looks. "I need to get me an alias though. I feel like out around all you gods."

"They're more trouble than they're worth, really." He often forgot who was called what and who knew about it. "Yours would either have to be very obvious or very ridiculous for me to remember it."

"Hmmm," Jade considered out loud as she stood up and moved to the freezer, pulling out the bottle of vodka and then grabbing two shot glasses. When she returned she wrapped her arms around her sitting friend from the back, resting her chin on the top of his head. "Anastasia Beaverhousen. Either that or go back to the name my parents blessed me with." Never ever. It was just cruel to inflict a child with Jadeite Saffron Amarantha and anyone sane would have legally changed it as she had.

"Anastasia Beaverhousen," Krishna replied, "is truly a name befitting your fur hat."

He reached back, placing his hands on her shoulders. "I'm sure your parents had entirely good intentions when naming you."

"Anything to be worthy of that hat," Jade grinned. "And, by extension, the goddess Priyanka." She didn't care what Krishna may have said. Jade would not be convinced that that woman was not some sort of immortal.

"I think my parents may have had some entirely good pot when naming me," Jade corrected, kissing him on the top of the head.

"You'd look better in the hat. It suits your personality better."

He smiled fondly at the kiss. "Good pot often leads to the best intentions. So their follow-through wasn't as good." He shrugged slightly, crossing his legs at the knee. "You turned out fine. A name is just a name, after all. Unless your name is Anastasia Beaverhousen, of course."

Jade sat back down and drained her wine glass then grinned at him. "Well, Anastasia Beaverhousen thinks it's time for shots. Yes?" She beamed across at her godly friend and shook the vodka bottle. "Shots and then movies and then probably me falling asleep on you in the middle of Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and cursing the alcohol gods in the morning."

"Shots and more Priyanka? I'm not sure I'll be able to handle it." Still, he flipped open the case that held his burgeoning Bollywood movie collection.

"I'm not sure my tolerance is as high as it's been in the past. I haven't gone out much, lately. I might finally be getting old." Since returning to New York, he'd spent his time mostly at work and meditating on himself. His life had dwindled into a rather boring existence.

"You? Old?" Jade put her hands to her cheeks in fake shock and then smiled at him. "Whatever, you're still pretty spry for your age. I'm sure if Priyanka shows up you could still sweep her off her feet."

"Oh..." He laughed haughtily, waving a hand in the air. "Please. There's no doubt about that. Though I would prefer to have Rani Mukherjee swooning over me. If I'm allowed to be picky."
