Who: Morpheus, Hypnos & Eros
What: Eternal waking nightmares, or: Please don't mess with Death's friends
When: Saturday evening
Where: Eros' place
Warnings: Creepy Di Nocti being creepy? IDK
Hypnos loved his brothers, and when one of them asked him to help with something, of course he would do it. And with Morpheus on board, so much the better. He'd met his brother at Eros' home, and wove some of his own magic all around the place so that no one would wake, but also so Psyche and Hedone wouldn't be disturbed. He had no quarrel with Eros' wife or child.
"You'd think that one of these days, he'd pick up on the fact that people don't appreciate being randomly shot with love arrows," he said quietly, testing the sleep web to make sure it would hold for as long as they needed it to. "Normally I'd be content to shake my head or roll my eyes, but Thanatos is family. He didn't deserve that."

Morpheus had been busily constructing a dream, one that would keep Eros in a nightmare until they saw fit to let him out of it. His eyes were half-lidded and contemplative as he laid his fingers on Eros' forehead.
"He should really have thought twice," Morpheus said. "He will next time, anyway."

Eros didn't think things through when he was urged to sprinkle mischief on those around him, be they immortals or not. He was a little boy who felt in his head was doing people a favor. His mother had kept him and his family safe for months and now that he was back in the city he had felt the need to celebrate. Hence the slight direction of arrows on some of his fellow Greeks. He'd even been contemplating hitting his sister, but he hadn't found a good enough target yet, she was special.
He'd been curled up around Psyche when Morpheus and Hypnos had entered. He hadn't been able to wake just felt a brush, and with a grunt he rolled off of Psyche and onto his back.
Brows creased tightly as Morpheus touched his forehead, feeling darkness surround him.

Hypnos tilted his head, his face blank and slightly curious. He knew Morpheus could conjure up horrible nightmares if he felt the need, and he didn't envy Eros the position he was in in the slightest.
"That's his problem, he doesn't think," he agreed. "Maybe one day, someone taking their revenge on him will sink in, but I don't hold my breath that it'll happen anytime soon. I mean, I get that he thinks he's helping, but nine times out of ten, all it does is piss people off."
He settled into a chair so he could observe. "How long do you think we should keep him under?"

"About a day should do it," Morpheus said. He sat cross-legged on the bed and closed his eyes as he tangled Eros' mind further in to the dream. He poured the monsters from Greek myths into the other god's mind, along with the boogeymen of modern life. Every shadow in Eros' nightmare would have a monster lurking in it. Every sunny day would quickly turn foul and terrible. Every friend and loved one would become twisted and terrible.
And he wouldn't be able to wake up.
"A bit of this goes quite a long way," Morpheus murmured.

Suddenly his bright world made no sense. There as no sunshine, no happiness, even those he loved were twisted representations of themselves. His mother merged with the hydra, Psyche's had eyes of deep red, a smile curving higher and higher as they loomed over him. He felt strapped to the bed, which was now a hard wooden plank with needles poking into his flesh. It burned, his blood flowing like a river and then the image would shift.
He was fooled each time by soft, sunny places, places he knew. Faces would appear and then become torrid and haggard wiping away any joy he held.
Even Hedone emerged, no longer just a little girl but a greedy python wrapped around him until he felt his breath collapse.
His body jolted, brows creased so deep that tears came down his face. What was this? What was this horrible place? He called out for his mother, but Aphrodite never came.

Hypnos watched as the love god began to twitch and thrash, tears rolling down his face. His normal smile was gone from his place, replaced by a dark, almost satisfied look. Hopefully after this, Eros would stay far away from the children of Nyx, if crossing them brought this kind of revenge.
"I don't doubt it," he returned quietly. "It seems to be working already. I've got an almost morbid curiosity to know what he's seeing."

"I could put you inside of it for a little while, if you'd like," Morpheus offered, rounding out the edges of Eros' consciousness to keep him trapped.
He looked down at the twitching, clearly upset god below him, but couldn't summon much sympathy. He never could when it came to the dreams he'd created. Leaning down, he murmured into the dream, "Be careful who you play with, Eros. You brought this on yourself."

The darkness crept in and chained him to the ground, his feet bound before children paraded around him. They threw stones, their faces demonic as they chanted taunts and flicked arrows into his skin. Tugging on the chain now was his own mother, dragging him through mud, hot tar and boiling water as if to teach him a lesson. She looked back at her boy with a gigantic grin with large teeth and slitted eyes as Morpheus spoke his whispered words.
Eros lay with his mouth agape struggling to grab onto something and threading the bed sheet through his fingers, only it was covered in wires that broke skin and he shrieked dropping it almost instantly.

"Color me curious," Hypnos said. "But yeah, I don't think I've ever seen one of your super-badass nightmares. Can you make me look all dark and scary?"
He watched as Eros grabbed for the sheets, dropping them the next instant. Maybe, after this, he would learn that people's lives were not things that he could play with for his own amusement, or that he could manipulate, even if he did think he was 'helping'.
