Who: Hebe and Herc
When: Wednesday evening, September 10, 2011
Where: Their place
Warnings/rating: Nothing expected

Well, at least Hebe had spent a good couple of weeks without having to worry about being asked to choose sides. Now Hera was making demands and to be completely honest, Hebe wasn't in the business of pissing off her mother. She would rather do as she was told than be on the chopping block. It had been nothing more than a short vacation at best.

Hebe sighed as she stepped into the apartment. As far as she could tell nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but then she hadn't lived there as long as Hercules so she left it to him to determine whether everything was in its proper place. She set her bag in the bedroom and then wandered off to the bathroom, where she sent a message to her mother that they were back. That should be enough to please Hera. She hoped.

When she came back out she settled onto the couch. "So dad wants you to go looking for Demeter?" She asked with some concern. Hebe had no idea what was going on there so her first instinct was that someone had taken the goddess.

The situation felt like it had gotten out of hand. Hercules had remained quiet on his orders from Zeus on the plane ride back to the city. He too was loyal to his father in the way Hebe was to Hera.

He carefully checked the apartment before letting Hebe inside. He'd become overly protective since she'd been taken still feeling it was his fault because Hera would not let him have peace.

He settled down on the couch beside her after going through the other rooms. "No. Demeter's been found. Need to take her to Zeus." perhaps it would put order to all this disorder.

Hebe had started feeling more like herself the longer they were gone. Upon returning to the city she didn't feel any change. In fact, she didn't feel any of that despair she had felt before, after being taken captive. Whatever it was, it was gone. It was such a relief.

"Oh," she said with a little nod. "Do you think it has anything to do with what happened at the party?" Other than what they had all witnessed Hebe knew very little. There was a time when she walked amongst the Olympian's and heard their concerns. Those times were long gone and Hebe wasn't sure whether she missed it or was glad to be rid of it.

She moved in more closely to lean against him. It always felt nice when it was just them.

It seemed as if some of her dispair had leaked off on him. There was a heavy and dark feeling hovering over his head since Hera demanded Hebe come back. His arm slipped around her as she settled in against him.

"Don't know. Doing my duty." His hand slid into hers, that large hand that near covered her entire arm. He didn't want to leave her, especially not with Hera.

She kissed his cheek. There was something so innocent about their relationship. All they had to do was be in the same room and it was like they could read what the other was thinking. She rested her chin on his shoulder, staring at him with concern. She wasn't going to go assuming things, but she didn't like the way he looked.

"Be careful," she said quietly.

His eyes closed for a moment, squeezing her hand tightly. So little an action but it was a comfort nonetheless.

"I will. You too," he moved his head and looked at her, pulling her into his lap and resting his forehead against hers.

Hebe sighed quietly and closed her eyes. "I'll be fine. You may not believe it but I don't think my mother would ever hurt me. Physically." Emotionally is an entirely different story.

"When do you leave?" She just wanted to spend time with him and not worry about finding or bringing people back, even if it was for her father.

Hercules shook his head, he wasn't convinced. "Doesn't want you with me," his hands folded against her face, a soft and smooth action. He'd never been anything but gentle with Hebe.

"Mine to watch over," he said softly. It was a promise he'd made Zeus the day he'd taken her hand. "Soon. Waiting for orders."

She frowned, she hadn't seen the conversation between them, but she was well aware of her mother's dislike for her husband. "She has to accept it, she has all these years. Even if she doesn't like it."

She nodded slowly, "Then let's do what we can with the time we have before you're whisked away on another adventure."

"Won't accept it. Time doesn't matter, her vengeance still runs strong." He kissed her gently. "Can't lose you." Not like he'd lost his wives before. Hebe was special. Hebe understood him without him ever saying a word.

Hebe didn't like that there was so much animosity between those two. If they both wanted Hebe to be happy then why couldn't they just get along? That's what would really make her happy. Sighing, she shook her head, "You're not going to lose me. Why are you saying all of this?"

Hera was vindictive and it didn't matter the years that may have smoothed over time, Hera still held him responsible. He would always be the son of Zeus. He kissed her again shaking his head. There was no more to say on the matter, worrying her would do nothing. Not now when she was stable.
