Who: Emma Franklin and Marius
What: Random run-in with an immortal.
When: Wednesday afternoon
Where: Just outside the building Marius protects
Warnings: tbd
Note: I wasn't sure what you wanted to use for his tag so I left it open
The world had changed over the last few months. It was no longer the world in which Emma had grown up. Instead, it was a world of immortals and gods running around pretending to humans. It was incredibly deceiving to the mortals they lived amongst, and Emma being half of each had begun to feel torn between the world she had grown up knowing and one she was now slowly being introduced to. She couldn't talk with her mother about any of this because she was absolutely certain her mom would think she was going crazy and try to take Emma to a psych ward or something. But the burden of this secret wasn't an easy one to hold because the weight of it all was beginning to take its toll. Even if Natalie had told Emma she could talk to her about these things it didn't always feel right. At least she had one mortal to talk to. And at least her father was no longer young-jackass. Both were improvements on her own stressful situation.
After class she found herself wandering. Usually she went to the market to buy fresh ingredients for dinner, but lately her mind had been wandering. She couldn't think a lot about normal things like class and books and papers. The guilt of how she had caused Manfred's heart attack (even if she hadn't been the real cause at all, she just felt it was her fault) was still fresh. It wasn't a wound that would heal easily or anytime soon. So it kept creeping up when she had time to think when she wasn't in class, which was a lot of the time. She really needed to enroll in more classes to keep herself busy.
She had gone to the market and purchased various items but she completely bypassed her apartment. She had gone the other direction and just walked. It was all she could right now because if she stopped it meant having to think about things, and she was tired of thinking. But when she did finally stop at an intersection and found she had walked much farther than she had intended she frowned. Looking around she found only one person nearby, which she thought was rather odd. She walked over to the man, offering a polite smile. She intended to figure out the best way to get back to her street without taking the subway. "Excuse me?"

Date: 2012-09-19 11:08 pm (UTC)He didn't like going outside. The sky was too big and too empty, but occasionally he had to. He had to walk along the borders of his house and ensure his protection remained. It didn't keep anyone from going inside, but it let people know the house was kept. To mortals it just felt odd. Homey, but not home. Not many understood the subtle things about his existence.
When he heard the voice he looked up and stepped back a bit. Humans were a thing he didn't much like, the influence of his master made him think so, and he hadn't thought he was visible. Either she'd seen him, or he'd let himself slip. Neither were options he was enjoying.
Still. He may not like her but he knew enough about them to know sometimes giving them a hello was enough. "Sorry. I did not see you." He couldn't help but sound old, the accent of a Roman still lingering in his speech. Many were confused about that. Cautiously he stepped closer. "May I aid you?"

Date: 2012-09-20 06:33 pm (UTC)She wasn't really sure why but the closer she came to this man she could have sworn she felt something. Glancing around, she didn't see anything going past her which just made her a little unnerved. It was sort of like when she was around her dad, and even then it was very faint like it was now. She'd have to ask him about that sometime.
She waved her hand, "Oh, that's fine." There was something about him that was very off. She couldn't put her finger on it, but she knew there w was something just... not normal about him. But she tried not to dwell on it because she'd end up staring in thought, and she didn't need anymore of that right now. "It seems I've gotten myself turned around," because of thinking and aimless wandering, "do you know the best way to get back to Park Slope? Without subways," she added the last bit quickly.

Date: 2012-09-21 12:02 am (UTC)He wasn't even sure where he was, nor did he care. If he was like the kin that had protected cities he may have known. Now he just knew this was home, and he didn't need to be elsewhere.
He tilted his head at her, "Are you lost?" He supposed he ought to help her in whatever way he could. He had some maps he was sure could help. "If you stay here I will find you a map. You can't come in." He didn't even realize how rude that sounded.
