Who: Richard the Lionheart and Alexander the Great
What: First Meetings
When: Wednesday
Where: Fort Hamilton
Warnings: Probable Language, TBD
Note: I know nothing of military proceedings.

Richard's job was fairly easy. The base commander knew who he was, and he worked with Washington to provide counsel on tactical matters. He knew he had a title, but it wasn't one on the books. Enough to get him an office, and for even the base commander to salute him. He still wished he could be in the field, providing tactics with just a map wasn't as great, but he was also unwilling to put the lives of good men at risk because he'd be zapped back at inconvenient intervals.

That and you learned the higher you went, the more paperwork got involved. And he'd never done too much of that, and it annoyed him. Right now he was busy with the scandal about Petraeus, wishing the man had been more discreet. Or at least not gotten caught. He'd been CIA for God's sake, you;d think he'd have covered his tracks better. Still in uniform he'd set his legs on the desk, only taking them off when someone knocked.

He spotted the base commander and rose to return the salute, figuring it was something big. Michael tended to leave him alone, and he respected the Colonel for that, and how he actually listened. When he saw the second person he figured out what it was about. He could feel immortal on him and so he nodded to the Colonel's request to get the newcomer situated. Having, mostly, gotten over his habit of treating his equals as subordinates he gave the newcomer a salute before extending his hand once Michael had left. "Morning. Richard." No titles, not yet. Not until he figured out who this was.

"Yeah...my mother and the general I left in charge just hated each other. That didn't really go over well, they would complain to me about each other. Like I could do anything from wherever I was at the time. But the country thrived. We traded and the economy just skyrocketed. But the people kept moving, and kept sending troops, and we ended up under Rome's thumb. After I died, but still. It was of my making." He shrugged. "I still wouldn't change anything."

"It is," he agreed. "You don't see many generals going and talking to the rank and file anymore."

"Oh yes?" he asked. "If I can't find a place in the city, I'll have to give it a look." He laughed then. "You build trebuchets? Why are they scowling? That's awesome!"

"I read about that," he said with a nod. "He sounds very...aggravating. Especially with the whole 'trying to steal your throne' thing."

"Well you're doing more than most people," he said, stepping inside the office after Richard. "Oh good, it's not a beige box with no windows! I like it." He snorted. "Just tell them not to let their dogs poop on your lawn, and there won't be any problems." He nodded. "I know how that feels. I've gone to a few bases overseas, but apart from that, I always end up back here. I really hate that sometimes."

"Something tells me there's so much more than what's actually written down," he said. "There always is, with everything."

"I'll take it, if this is one of the perks," he said, setting his papers down on the desk. It wasn't a huge, grandiose room, but it was big enough to where he didn't think he'd go crazy if he stayed in it for a while.

"You go jousting," he said, grinning. "And you build trebuchets. You clearly know how to have fun. My horse is back in DC, I need to make some time and go and get him. I found a stable to house him in."

He nodded. "I've been back to Pella, and India a few times. But this place always pulls me back if I try to stay too long. It's so different now, I like seeing what's changed."

"Ooh, mysterious," he said, walking the length of his new office. "I am intrigued."

He raised an eyebrow. "You could tell them you tried, anyway," he said, smiling, a challenge dancing in his eyes. "I'll have to get the horse as soon as I can."

Alexander's laugh reverberated off the walls. "Was that an old joke? Because I am plenty spry for my age, thank you very much. Whippersnapper."

"Big talk," he said with a small smirk. "I guess we'll just have to see how it goes." He nodded. "Sounds good to me."

"Liar," he said, but there was no sting to the word and he was grinning. "I'll see you later," he said, settling himself into his chair and spinning around a few times. Oh, this assignment was looking better all the time.
