WHO: Miranda & Hermes
WHEN: Tuesday afternoon
WHERE: Hermes' place
WHAT: Grandpa hugs now plz.
Miranda actually thought she was doing pretty well, all things considered. It had been almost three weeks since she'd been held captive by those horrible men and seen an innocent old man killed. That was the part she was actually having the most trouble with. That was the part that kept showing up in her dreams and made her wake up crying. He hadn't done anything. In her dreams those men with guns looked like monsters, deformed and snarling.
She kept thinking about going back to work, but she didn't think she was ready. If she'd worked for anyone but Hecate she couldn't imagine she'd even still have a job. The perks of being beloved by gods.
Her own gods were hearing a lot more from Miranda since it had happened, her prayers and supplications to Isis and Osiris becoming almost a constant stream of thought. Give me strength, make me brave, help me through this time, walk beside me and keep me standing tall. Their candles on her altar were always burning, their offerings always being renewed. Miranda needed her faith right now more than she had in years.
On Tuesday morning she told Kat of her intentions: she needed to go see their grandfather, by herself, to talk some things through. And on Tuesday afternoon she called for a cab to take her from the door of her apartment to the door of his, not wanting to spend more time alone outside than was needed.
She made her way up to Hermes' apartment, checking over her shoulder again and again, and then waited after knocking, arms crossed and shoulders hunched.
