WHO: George & Zoe
WHEN: Friday afternoon
WHERE: Out on the street
WHAT: Just wanted to say hi and crush your spirit
WARNING: ;_;
Friday afternoon, Zoe and Greed went and got lunch and then went to Odysseus' travel agency. They spent a little time there making arrangements, they needed plane tickets and also a place to rent since where they were going didn't exactly have a hotel.
When they left, standing outside the agency, Zoe was looking at the information they had gotten on the small town in Lithuania that was the center of Europe and proud of it though the place was so small not that many people knew unless they were looking for it. She held the tickets out to Greed but it was decided she'd keep them. They kissed sweetly and Greed got in his car and left to take care of things he had to do before the trip. Zoe went in the other direction, walking down the street, filled with nervous energy.
------
George hadn't set out to spy on Greed and his girlfriend. Mostly, he'd set out to take a walk. It was only noticing Greed from down the sidewalk that made him duck casually into a doorway. He figured he'd earned the right to spy on Wrath's siblings when one of them had tried to turn his brain into envy-soup.
Huh. Was this Greed's girlfriend, then? She was walking towards him, and George figured it couldn't hurt to find out. The key was not to come off as a creepy weirdo.
"Um, hey. Are you Zoe?"
-------
George failed fantastically at not being a creepy weirdo when Zoe stopped walking and looked at the strange blonde man that knew her name. She was instantly on guard because between Virtues, Hell people, and her own insane family, people who stopped her randomly on the street and knew her name were normally not the type of people she ended up having a fun time with. She seemed incredibly wary and took a step back, "Maybe.." she said with a slight cringe, really not in the mood for some sort of attack. She was normally much friendlier but the past few months had done a number on her.
--------
"Sorry, hi, I'm St. George?" George said, trying for a reassuring smile. "I'm Wrath's boyfriend? I just saw you with Greed and I was like 'oh, maybe that's his ladyfriend' but if you're not that's cool too and I can just go."
---------
Zoe's mouth formed a perfect 'o', "Oh. Oh, I'm so sorry." she kinda wanted to still ask to see an ID but she doubted immortals carried around ID that would identify them as such. "No, I'm Zoe." she stuck her hand out to shake his.
"It's really nice to meet you. I mean I know of you. I used to hear stories when I was a kid. That sounds creepy so instead I'll say Wrath's said some really nice things about you." she smiled, "Greed hasn't but you know I think he still likes you." she looked down the street and then back to him with a slight frown, "You could have said hi to us when I was with him, it probably would have prevented me from thinking you were someone that was going to make my day really unpleasant."
-----------
"Uh, yeah, Envy tried to melt my brain, so I'm kind of maintaining a bubble of avoidance for some of Wrath's siblings right now," George said, reaching out to shake her hand. "Wrath said very nice things about you, though."
------------
Zoe raised her brows and looked a little taken aback, "Oh. Okay." that was the one she knew for sure Greed didn't get along with. The only sister he hadn't been sexual with. She smiled, "Wrath is lovely... and unique." she liked Wrath even if she was still a little scared of the Sin.
---------
"She is lovely and unique and sometimes terrifying," George said with a nod. "Thank you, for hanging out with her. Seriously, she was pretty positive about you, which is not a thing Wrath does a lot."
-------
"Just a tiny bit." she pinched her fingers together when he mentioned terrifying. Zoe gave him an odd look with a smile, "It's not something you have to thank me for.. I wanted to. It's what friends do, isn't it? Hang out?" she shrugged, her smile more genuine, "I'm glad she enjoyed it, I'd love to see her again. Chance doesn't really like it but eh."
---------
"Well, then I'm glad she has a friend like you," George said, smiling. "Chance? Oh, is that Greed? And do you want to get a coffee or something? We can talk inside out of the cold, if you've got time."
----------
Zoe closed her eyes and wrinkled her nose, "Yes, Greed. Sorry. I'm trying to get used to saying that but Chance is his.. well, sometimes it's more natural and slips out." she nodded hesitantly eyeing him, "Sure... but why do I feel like I'm in trouble?" she grinned, "You think I'm a bad influence on Wrath?" she teased.
----------
"Nah, people who are being officially scolded don't get coffee," George said with a laugh. "Official Church doctrine. I just thought it might be nice to talk. Especially since you're the only other person I know who's dating a Sin."
----------
Zoe frowned and waved her hand in a 'no' manner, "Oh, whoa, no. Greed and I aren't dating. We did... but we're not together anymore." she tried to discreetly put the tickets in her bag. It looked bad.. but she wasn't lying. They weren't a couple.
-------
"Uh, so you're just planning a platonic trip with him?" George asked, raising an eyebrow. It was not, technically, any of his business. Except warning people off from Hellspawn actually was his business. "Does he know that you two aren't dating?"
--------
Zoe turned bright red, her face so heated that the cold really wouldn't be a bother. Did a Saint just call her out on a sex trip? Oh God, she was so mortified she kinda wanted to die on the spot. She tried to keep her dignity and her cool but was a pit peeved off as well because George was starting to sound as bad as the Virtues, "Not that it's any of your business, Saint George, but no, it's not a platonic trip. And yes, he knows we're not dating."
-------
"I don't...Zoe, I don't care if you're going on a vacation with Greed," calling it a sex trip seemed impolite, "or dating him. Or not dating him. Or having him over every night to play Jenga say prayers. You're a grown-up. I just-"
He rubbed the back of his head, at the still-healing spot where he'd been compulsively scratching while Envy toyed with his brain. "The Sins are very dangerous. They're dangerous even when they don't intend to be. And I say that as someone who loves one of them."
-------
Zoe tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and finally looked at him, she was confused. "Yes......?" she was waiting for the 'and' or the 'but' or basically the point. She'd been seeing Greed for six months, and she'd been hanging out with Wrath for about a month. She knew all of this. She'd seen it.
-------
"And it would make me very sad to see you get hurt because of Greed," George said seriously.
--------
Zoe actually laughed a little, "Yeah, you're a little late for that. It's why we decided to be friends." the amount of heartache Greed had caused her.. she wouldn't expect George to understand. "Doesn't solve the problem but you know." she shrugged. He still hurt her but at least the expectations were gone.
-------
"Hurt as in crazy or dead," George said, scratching at the spot again from habit. "The kind of thing a human can't bounce back from."
---------
"I got crazy covered." she said in a suffering tone because you couldn't be with Greed and be sane. She frowned, "Are you telling me to not see him? Because I thought you just said you didn't care and I was an adult..."
-------
George wanted to make her understand that by crazy, he meant gibbering in a corner and talking to the patterns on the walls, but he doubted it would help.
"I can't stop you," he said, shrugging. "I guess my professional saint advice is don't date Greed because it will probably end with someone dead, no matter how much he doesn't want that to happen."
--------
Zoe tilted her head and scrunched up her face a little. She pointed at him, "Are you seriously advising me to not be with a Sin while you're in love with a Sin yourself?" she furrowed a brow, "Isn't that kinda hypocritical..?" of all the Saints he kinda seemed the least qualified to be giving her any sort of advice against Sin dating.
-----------
"Yes and yes," George said, hands in his pockets. "But if Wrath beats me to death with my own X-box controller, I'll pop back up eventually. If something happens to you, that's it and...look, I know you're not going to listen to me. I get it. I wouldn't listen to me in your shoes either. But I have to say something. It's a character flaw."
-------
Zoe frowned, "I guess at least you know you're being a douche.." she couldn't believe she just called her favorite Saint a douche. This was sad. But she never thought Saint George of all people would be against her and Greed. She looked thoughtful and then asked, "If Wrath did beat you to death with your x-box controller and you popped back up.. would you still date her?"
------
"No, I think that would probably be a sign that things had gotten a little too unhealthy to handle," George said tiredly. "And I think my brothers would stage an intervention."
------
She was still trying to wrap her head around it, "She's the sin of Wrath and you're a Saint.. I wouldn't ask except you've crossed all sorts of personal boundary lines already. Why haven't you brothers staged an intervention already? Kinda like the one you're doing now."
------
"Huh? Oh, this isn't me staging an intervention," George said. "I'm just sort of throwing some concerns in your direction. If they thought Wrath was hurting me, really hurting me, they'd step in."
-------
Zoe made a face, "You think Greed is hurting me? Or going to hurt me?" she frowned severely, he wasn't the first person to make this assumption and she really didn't like how Greed got such a bad reputation.
"Saint George, last month my own grandfather tried to sell me to a greek god. The deal would have been made if Greed hadn't rescued me. He took care of me. He's not a very good boyfriend but he's the best friend I could ever ask for. Not even Wrath tried to stop me from seeing her brother. So the question is why are you? And why now? Because I know you've known about me and Greed for awhile." she looked at him curiously wondering what had happened to cause George to act this way.
---------
George stared at her for a long moment, head tilted. Then he nodded.
"All right," he said. "If you say he's not going to hurt you, and you're that sure, then okay."
He sighed and reached up towards the spot on his head, only just stopping himself from scratching at it. "The Envy-brain-melting thing...it happened very recently. And I hurt someone I love very much. And before that, Lucifer took us. It's the sort of thing that makes someone afraid. And I worried about a human, having to deal with that kind of fear. If you think you can, if it's something you're ready for, than all right."
---------
"I mean he did kinda shoot me once but it was an accident.." she gave him another odd look, it was like meeting your favorite celebrity and realizing that you actually liked the character they played more than the person because you didn't know who the person was. "Okay I know about the Lucifer thing, which I'm very sorry for, it sounded horrible. But Greed actually refused to see me during that whole ordeal because he didn't want me to get caught in the crosshairs. I don't know what envy brain melting thing happened but she's not the one that I care about so I think it's a very different situation but to be fair, his siblings do scare me."
She rubbed her forehead like she had a headache, "It's very sweet.. and a little psychotic.. that you're worried but I met Satan. And she didn't scare me away." she dropped her hand, "Am I scared? Yes. Can I deal with it all of the time? No. Am I ready? Hell no. But I'm still here. Because if you woke up tomorrow and you were mortal, would you leave Wrath? Or would that fear be so worth it to stay?"
------
George raised an eyebrow at mention of him shooting her. He didn't want to know. He really didn't.
"Envy took umbrage to...something. I don't know. Wrath and me, I guess. And so she decided to pump my brain full of herself until I started going crazy. And the only thing that made it stop was going to Kindness, the Virtue, and getting her to put some big bubble on anti-Envy around my brain. His siblings should scare you, they should terrify you. Greed would probably choose you over them, he seems to like you a lot, but that's not going to keep you safe."
--------
She looked scared as he talked about Envy but she didn't know how to respond to that. "They do terrify me but unlike Wrath, Greed will choose his family over me." he already had, if it came down to between her and Lust, Greed would never pick Zoe which is why Zoe never made him choose. "And he won't be enough to keep me safe if something did happen but you didn't answer my question. If you suddenly became mortal, knowing the danger and fear involved, would you stay with Wrath?" she was not letting that go.
------
"Wrath did choose her family over me," George said, fisting his hands in the pockets of his coat. "It didn't make me safer. Envy said that Wrath going to me after they rescued her was why she attacked me. Greed choosing you won't make you safer. It would put you in more danger."
At her repeated question, George sighed. "I would try. But in the end, I think I would have to leave. Do you know how many of Wrath's neighbors have been arrested for assault, or domestic violence? How many suicides happen around her? She doesn't do it on purpose, it upsets her, but she can't stop it." George swallowed, trying to keep himself from getting more emotional. The things that he couldn't help Wrath with...they upset him more than he really admitted. "And I wouldn't want her to feel responsible if something happened."
--------
"He won't choose me." she repeated.
She looked at him a little in disbelief, "How noble of you." she said sarcastically because he was taking Wrath's choice in it away. He'd end it before something bad could happen, if it did at all. He didn't think it was worth the risk. She didn't even have Greed so what the hell was she putting her neck on the line for?
--------
George ran his hands through his hair roughly before offering her a sad smile. This hadn't helped anything. He was pretty sure it had made things worse. "You know what, you were right the first time. It's none of my business. I'm sorry that I bothered you."
--------
Zoe was not pleased with how the conversation had happened and if anything she looked like a mixture of about to break down in tears and slap George with a glove and challenge him to a duel. "Say what you want about the Sins but Wrath and Greed? They'd die for what they believe in and immortality has nothing to do with it."
She took some steps back since the conversation was obviously over, "You used to be a fighter before you became a martyr.." her tone of voice was like a child that was let down by their idol and didn't understand what happened to them. Not that she knew him personally but once again, the legend was so different than the person. She walked off trying not to look as dejected as she felt and failing miserably.
--------
"I'm still a fighter, Zoe," George said. "I'm just very old and I've seen a lot of terrible things happen. But I'm sorry that I upset you. I just...wanted to say hi."
--------
Zoe turned around and looked at him, "You know when I was a kid, I was scared of the dark and my grandmother would tell me it was okay because Saint George would protect me from the monsters. And I used to ask her doesn't Saint George get scared? You know what she told me? Yes. She said Saint George is as scared as you are but he doesn't let the fear stop him." she looked at the ground and shook her head, "But you know she lied about everything else. So why not this." she looked back at him more upset than she would care to admit as she flatly said, "Hi." and escaped into a lingerie shop knowing he wouldn't have the balls to follow her in.

I feel so bad for Zoe being all >:( at her previous hero AND for George for trying to help and failing miserably :D So many feels. I LOVE IT!
Also all the Wrath talk pleases me :D
OOC
Chels and I were saying that funnily enough Wrath will probably be the one to smooth things over between these two. I said I think she should teach a class at a learning annex on how to make friends.

I'm so looking forward to seeing how Wrath is gonna try. I imagine she'll also appreciate the irony and be like 'srsly guiz'.

I really want Charity to meet her, maybe with Greed or without. We should totally do that and Charity can be all HI LOVELY TO MEET YOU :D

So far Patience is the only Virtue she's met in person and he's like ARE YOU CRAZY YOU CAN'T BE WITH A SIN. But after they get back from their trip maybe she or she and Greed can run into her.

Charity will bake her muffins and be all "Oh, is there going to be a wedding? Aren't you both cute together!" Because Charity loves everyone equally and if humans die then she's sad but, uh, she clearly doesn't go out of her way to stop it. Because she believes in the best in everyone, even Sins and Hell Princes. Silly, silly Virtue.
