While Joey loved everyone who lived at the Reppyi place, today he was headed over to visit Monique. They were going to watch a movie and he had brought pizzas to make in the oven, as well as several packages of cookies and chocolate. Eating a lot of crap tended to make him feel better about life in general and even though he was feeling more mentally well these days, he would still take anything that helped.

He knocked on the door, food in hand, and grinned when Monique opened it. "Hey!" he greeted her cheerfully. "I brought supplies!"

Nikkie grinned when she saw him. "You have pizzas and chocolate, you are the best," she said, pulling him into a hug and kicking the door shut. "Come on in, kitchen's this way," she added, leading him inside. "You want something to drink?"

"I am quite good," Joey joked as he walked into the house and after a hug. "I'd love some water if you happen to have some of that!"

Nikkie laughed as she got down a glass and filled it with water, then handed it to him. "We can put these in the freezer, if you want," she said. "Unless you wanted to make one now?"

"We can make it whenever you want," he said, sipping the water. "I aim to please!" And he did, really. He was just glad he could spend time with someone without wondering if Lucifer would show up.

Her stomach gave a faint growl at his words, and it made her snicker. "I think that answers that, then," she said, turning on the over and getting out the pizza pan.

"So how have you been, Joey?" she asked as she flitted around the kitchen.

"I've been okay," he said, leaning against the wall as she pottered. "A few nightmares this week, but so much better than it used to be, eh? You?"

She looked at him over her shoulder, concern on her face. "I wish I could do more besides just ask," she said. "But I'm alright, Anthony's had a bit of an upswing in cases, so we're working harder than the winter. But at least we still get home for dinner."

"Dinner is important," he said with a nod. "As for me...I'm doing okay. Really. Some days are better than others, but none of them are as bad as they were a few months ago. Thank you, celexa!" and he laughed. Anti-depressants were handy things.

"V can get cranky if we're not," she told him. "And it's nice to not stagger home at 10 at night, too, you know?"

She peered at him. "If you say so," she said. She pointed at him with a spoon. "But you tell me if you're not, OK? And the Celexa helps?"

"God yes," he agreed. "I used to work horrible hours at this bar and just...never again," he laughed.

"It does help," he nodded. "So much. And I'd tell you. I'd tell anyone who would listen because I like my life and I plan to keep it for a long time."

"I can't even tell you how many times I ate dinner at my desk, or fell asleep there if I was working late," Nikkie said. "Agreed. Never again."

"Good," she said with a nod. "I'm glad. I like having you in my life, don't be going anywhere."

"Falling asleep at your desk is a good way to drool on something important," Joey shook his finger at her as a joke.

"Excuse you," Nikkie said, striking an exaggerated pose and pretending to be deeply offended. "I do not drool, mister. And even if I had, Anthony wouldn't have noticed before. He used to live for his work, that one."

"I think most saints are like that. Except Patrick. He lives for his...tea, mostly," Joey chuckled.

"He seems to be better now," she said, smiling. "Apparently he had a visit from Metatron, and a heart-to-heart with V, and then it was like the wind changed. So much better. And tea is excellent. Patrick clearly knows what's what."

The oven dinged and she pulled the pizza out. "So what were you in the mood to watch?" she asked. "We have a truly massive DVD collection."

"I've spoken to Metatron and seriously I would do anything he said," Joey laughed. "Ooh food! Hmmm, do you have something Sci-fi? I feel like aliens."

"Yeah, if the Voice of God appeared and told me...well, anything, I'd probably lose my voice and run to do it," Nikkie agreed. She cut the pizza and piled it onto plates, passing him one.

"I think so," she said, heading into the living room. "We have a sampling from almost every genre, aliens have to be in there somewhere."

Joey accepted the plate and grinned at Nikkie. "Lovely!" He followed her into the living room. "Do you have the movie Paul? It's hilarious."

"Poooossibly," Nikkie said. "I added mine to the existing stack when I moved in, and there's not really any sort of organizational system going on." She set her plate on the coffee table and crouched down, running her fingers over the plastic spines of the cases. "A-ha!" she said triumphantly, pulling it out.

She put it in the player and queued up the main menu, then dropped herself onto the couch, plate on her lap. "And this is how the good Lord meant for us to spend Saturdays," she laughed.

"It really is," Joey said, taking a big bite of the pizza. "Oh yum. God I'm a good shopper," he said with a wink.

"The best," Nikkie agreed, digging in along with him as the opening titles rolled. "We'll have to get you one of those little tiaras. Wear it with pride."

"You know if I had a tiara I would wear it all the time," he said honestly.

"Well that settles that, then," she said, punctuating her proclamation with a nod. "We have to get you one. Hell, I might even have one tucked away in my room somewhere."

Joey laughed and he pulled his legs up under him, which had him leaning towards her a little.

She rested her head on his shoulder, because she liked cuddling with people and really, what was personal space? The movie played in the background, and she let out a happy sigh. It was nice to just chill for a little while.

Maybe it was just because it had been a long fucking time since he had felt safe enough with anyone except Lena to get closer, but Joey didn't even think before he turned his head and lightly kissed Nikkie on the corner of her mouth. Then he pulled back, looking slightly confused by what he had done, though he was still leaning close to her.

Nikkie sat up straight when she felt Joey kiss, thrown off slightly at the turn of events, but not upset. "Joey?" she asked softly.

"Sorry?" he asked, still not moving back because he now seemed frozen. "I was just really comfortable and apparently when I'm comfortable I kiss people?"

She reached one hand out and lightly brushed his cheek. "No, it's fine, you just...took me a bit by surprise, is all." She closed the gap between them, not that it had been very wide to begin with. "But you can have another go. If you want to."

Joey nodded quickly and he leaned in to kiss her again, this time going slow and enjoying it. He lifted a hand and ran it through her hair before pulling back to whisper, "I think you're beautiful you know?"

Nikkie wrapped one of her hands around the back of his neck and kissed him back. Her smile bloomed over her face when he said she was beautiful. "Oh, Joey," she said. "You are such a sweetheart, you know that?"

Joey nodded cutely and he kissed her again before he leaned away. "It's cultivated sweetness, but I'm proud of it. Look, I didn't actually plan this. But I can't say I haven't been thinking about it for a while."

"As you should be," she replied. "It's a great quality to have."

"Spontaneous kisses, I like it," she said, eyes twinkling. "Have you really? Why didn't you say?"

The reason he hadn't said was a bit more depressing than spontaneous kisses. He had always been an incredibly honest person, however, so even though he would rather do more kissing, he explained himself.

"Just because the trauma- Going through something like I did last August, it takes a while to feel normal again. Like...feelings matter? Not explaining it well. It's easy to overlook fuzzy feelings about someone when you're convinced being let go was just a fluke and you'll be back in that horrible place any time. That and I don't want to be a burden to anyone." At least he had managed to say it all without actually sounding upset. "So I just thought about it instead and it made me smile when...smiles were few."

"Oh, Joey," she said again, but in a sadder tone of voice. She cupped his face in her hands. "You're not a burden, OK? You're really, really not. You're funny and lovely, and you have such a good heart. And you're safe, you have people who look out for you, who care." She brushed a thumb over his cheek. "You have a great smile, you know."

Because she said it, he smiled even wider. "I didn't know, actually," he admitted. "About the smile. I do know I have people who care and I'm so grateful for all of you. What would you have said? If I had told you, I mean."

Nikkie knew she probably looked a little silly from smiling so much, but she didn't even care. "That's the one," she said. "Lights up your whole face."

"Probably pretty close to the same thing I'm going to say now," she replied. "That you are so sweet and I'm flattered, and you can pretty much kiss me whenever you like, I wouldn't stop you."

Joey smiled yet again and then he laughed happily. "'s a good answer," he mused for a moment and then he leaned in to kiss her again.

Nikkie's laugh was cut off as he kissed her again, but she hardly minded. It was nice to see him looking so happy. She really liked Joey, and tonight was turning out better than she'd thought it might.
