WHO: Nephthys & Anubis
WHEN: Tuesday afternoon
WHERE: Somewhere unspecified in Manhattan
WHAT: Mother and son surprise reunion

With the weather turning warmer, Nephthys had taken to sleeping on the balcony of her apartment instead of inside. It comforted the night goddess to be exposed to the sky above, even though stars could hardly be seen here. The sky was an almost blank thing in this city, and Nephthys missed that arching starred roof of her mother's body.

In the mornings she woke, night clinging to her skin, to greet Ra's bright hands and enter the world of mankind as she had been doing. During the week she attended classes on psychology and at Columbia University, and during the weekend she gave her time at a hospice to help those coming close to death. Nephthys understood death and grieving more personally than most ever could, and she could bring comfort to those that hadn't yet passed over just as she'd once helped those that already had.

It was coming from one of her classes that she felt the presence of one of her own blood. But it wasn't one she recognised the feeling of - not one of her siblings, not the lioness or the cow - and so she followed it with curiosity.

A man, that was who the feeling led to, but from the back of the head she couldn't know who it was, only that it was a god. "Hello," she said to the man, waiting for him to turn.

The city was a nice place to wander around in. Different from the things he was used to, but it was an interesting place none the less.

He'd returned from work when he'd felt the presence, and was half surprised she didn't recognize him. Then again, it had been years. With a smile he turned, "Hello mother."

He laughed to her reaction, but returned the hug. It was always so very nice to see her again. He kept the hug for a while before he released her. She looked well at least. "I was planning to come look you up. I've been kept busy. How are you?"

He indulged her, even if he wasn't the affectionate type. "As I've missed you." Smiling he led her out of the path and onto a bench. "Is more family here?"

He laughed to that, "I think you've always said that, ever since I stopped being a child." He grinned and nodded, "I'll see them soon. I think it'd please father. I half expected the hawk to be here too." He was fond of his younger sibling.

He watched her for a moment before addressing the elephant that was always in the room. "And Set? Is he here?"

He set a hand on his mother's back. He regretted asking, but then again he also didn't. Sometimes it was better to know. "I'm sorry." It seemed like the best thing to say. Then he smiled, "we're all little in our parent's eyes. Now what are you doing?"

He chuckled, happy to change topics. "Of course. I'd love to spend time with you. I can show you where I work if you like? And I did also mean in the city."

"I think it will suit you perfectly," he offered honestly. Very few would be better. "I'm a mortician, something that surprises no one. I work with a few Greeks. Not to bad people. And I met the christian Death a while back. Interesting being."

He shrugged, "I like talking to people. It's interesting. And good. I am glad that you have people here you can talk to."
