WHAT: Okay, let's try and make this work...

Mary had told the Aztec she would come back in a few days to see him, and in the end it was four days later that she showed up at his door, red hair loose over her shoulders and her dress a pale blue.

It was a warrior that let her in and if he had any opinion at all about her being there, he didn't let it show. Mary had her suspicions that she wasn't entirely welcome by them again, not after last time.

She sat on the balcony as she waited for Huitzilopitchli, the same balcony she'd been at nights ago when she told him she would sell her soul if he asked. That still held true, she knew. (Mary didn't even know if she could give away her soul or what it would mean for her existence, but she'd do it for the chance to be with Huitzilopitchli.)

He turned away and took a deep breath. He'd missed her more then he'd let himself believe, but he was determined to try and do this right, and to let his old wounds heal a bit first.

He rose and gave himself some distance, "it is for the best Mary."

"I'll be good," Mary said, standing up herself with a smile and raising her hands in surrender. "Look, no hands. I can head home though and remove temptation for both of us."
