Jamie curled his toes over the edge of the cliff. Their guide had told them it was perfectly safe, he wasn't going to land on any rocks. Still. It was a bit of a drop. He sucked a breath in between his teeth. Now or never.

He ran backwards a few paces, then sprinted forward, leaping off the edge of the cliff. He hung there in midair for a second, then started to fall, whooping all the way. He hit the water with a giant splash, sinking down before propelling himself back up. His adrenaline had spiked somewhere on the way down, but it was totally worth it.

She wasn't usually a thrill seeker, as she reserved that for games. She also had a minor issue with heights, and the cliff was rather high. But if she didn't do this, she would regret it.

So she waited for Jamie to clear before taking a breath and then running off the cliff at high speed. She ave a yelp of half terror and half excitement on the way down, and only opened her eyes after she surfaced.

Laughing she pushed her curls out of her eyes and went to high five Jamie. "Holy shit that was a hell of a jump."

Jamie high-fived her, grinning. "Right?!" he said, shoving his own hair out of his eyes. He looked back up to the top of the cliff. "I could probably do that again, actually."

"You have fun with that. My fear of heights is saying the beach looks really awesome right now." She ruffled Jamie's hair real quick before making her way to the shore. Once was really enough for her. She'd done it, at least.

Thomas and Victor were sitting on the beach watching Kat and Jamie take their jumps. Neither of them were interested in the idea though for very different reasons. And Thomas had to admit it was terrifying watching his son and friend do it as well, and he had held his breath both times until they surfaced.

"I kept being terrified one of them would break their neck," he admitted to Victor.

"But they're having a good time," Victor replied, sounding much more laid back.

Jamie waved at his dad and friends on the beach, then climbed back up to the top of the cliff. He wanted to give it one more go before rejoining the group.

The drop hadn't lost any of the thrill the second time around, and he hit the ocean with a crash, bobbing back up and shoving his hair out of his eyes again. He swam towards the shore this time, heading back to the group on the beach.

"So, that was awesome," he said, settling down on the sand.

She'd found she was a bit queasy so rejoining Victor and Thomas sounded better. She'd smiled to the two before sitting down and starting to dry herself.

She nodded at Jamie before taking a drink from some water. "He's right. Very awesome. Bit terrifying, but still neat. And now I've jumped off something high." She set the bottle down and grinned, "What's next?"

"Relaxing in the sun?" Victor suggested with a grin.

Thomas stood to go sit by his son, carrying Jamie's towel with him. "Here's your towel, Jason." The moment it left his mouth, Thomas' expression melted from one of joy to one of abject horror. His mother had gotten the names of all her children confused on occasion, but Thomas only had one child and he had never called Jamie the wrong name. "J-Jamie. I...I meant Jamie," he stammered, his skin now stark white.

Jamie had shoved his head under his towel to dry his hair off some, but hearing his dad call him the wrong name made him freeze. That had never happened before.

"Dad?" he asked, a bit hesitantly. "You OK?"

That made her frown and she gave Victor a worried look before setting her hand on Jamie's. She didn't want to say that Thomas probably wasn't, but this just kind of pointed that out.

"It's alright." She looked at Thomas, "Thomas maybe you should see someone. Are you still having headaches?"

Thomas looked at all of them in turn, all with their eyes on him; sympathetic and worried looks on their faces. In a moment of pure childishness, he wanted to run away from them so they could just stop looking at him like that, but he would never just leave them. Not these people.

"I-I just got confused," he stammered, his stomach twisting a little. God, what if this was how it all began? Here on a beach in Greece. If this was the start of his symptoms, he had three years at most before things got really bad.

Three years. Jamie wouldn't even be out of university. Three years wasn't enough time with Lena.

It wasn't enough time.

Shifting his feet in the sand, he cross his arms over his chest. "It's- I'm fine. I didn't...mean to say that."

Jamie squeezed Kat's hand, wrapping his other arm around his dad's shoulders. "Dad," he said. "You know you can tell me if you're not feeling OK, right?"

She didn't want to be the bad guy and tell Thomas that no, he wasn't alright. So she held her tongue and nodded to Jamie's comment. That seemed safer. "He's right. If you're not feeling well, it's best to get it looked at."

She shrugged, "ignoring it may make it worse. If not now atleast see someone when you get back. Otherwise we'll all just worry about you."

Thomas nodded quickly, for Jamie and Kat's benefit and then he turned to realise Victor was standing beside him.

"Look at me?" Victor requested and Thomas complied, though confused. Then Victor held out a finger and said, "can you follow my finger with your eyes?" As he moved it back and forth, Thomas kept his eyes on it.

"What...am I doing this for?" Thomas asked, though he was glad for the distraction, however weird it was.

"Just checking," was Victor's only reply. He put his finger down and then he went to wrap his arm around Kat's waist.

"Right. Well the headaches are still there," he finally admitted. "They're...getting worse. I just didn't want to ruin the trip."

I was gonna say, I was like, 'o_O Why is Thomas so happy?'

Jamie watched as Victor made his dad follow his finger. It was more than likely a test for something, he just didn't know what.

"You're not ruining anything," he went on. "If you don't feel well, say something. Please. And yes, seriously, go and see someone once we get home."

She wasn't too sure what the test was for, but she trusted Victor. She leaned into his embrace.

"Jamie's right. You're not ruining anything." She tried for a smile and handed Thomas her bottle of water. "Here, take a drink and relax a bit. We can worry about doctors and stuff like that later."

Thomas took a grateful drink of the water before handing it back. He hadn't even realised her mouth had gone dry. He wanted to say that he was terrified; that three years wasn't enough. His father had had fifty some years before his symptoms had shown up, why should Thomas only get 34?

Instead, because Thomas wanted very much not to scare Jamie, he went to hug his son and he said, "it's going to be fine. I'll see a doctor and it'll be fine."

Jamie squeezed him, still watching him with concern. "Sure it will," he said, trying for as cheery a tone as he could get. "It'll be OK." Maybe if he said it often enough, he'd start to believe it himself.

It was worse knowing she couldn't help. She could only offer as much support as she was able too and it never felt enough. She couldn't even imagine how Jamie felt.

Thomas pulled away from his son and he ran his fingers through his hair. "I seem to have brought the tone down. Uhm. Should we head back to the hotel or do you want to stay awhile?" His head was pounding, but he would do what everyone else wanted.

"If you're not feeling well, it's OK, we can go back to the hotel," Jamie assured him. "Or I can, anyway, if Kat and Victor want to stay."

"I don't mind at all," she offered with a smile. They could relax there and Thomas could get some rest. Hopefully it would help a bit.

"Maybe going back is a good idea then," Thomas suggested since they all seemed okay with it.

"Sounds like it's for the best, mate. We can even arrange dinner and you can just relax," Victor suggested.

"Mmm. Okay. I just...feel a bit off now." 'A bit off' meaning he was now filled with dread and fear, though he hoped this didn't spoil their last few days here.

Jamie stood up, brushing sand off his back. "That sound good, Dad?" he asked. "You can lie down for a little while, and we'll meet back up in a couple of hours to eat, or something."

She rose and gave Jamie a comforting smile before collecting all the towels and putting a summer dress over her bikini. "And you're not ruining anything either.Hanging out is still loads of fun."

Thomas nodded as Victor set about helping pack up. "Yeah...resting sounds good." He felt like the moment he was alone he might cry, but at least he could try to rest his head. "I'm still sorry," he said to Kat. He knew no one would resent him for this, but he felt annoyed it was necessary.

Jamie just hugged him again, smiling at Kat. "She's right, you're really not," he added. "And they might have something at the desk or whatever, some meds that might help."

She nodded to that, "yeah I'm sure they do." she set everything in the bag, then picked it up. "And if Jamie wants to he's free to come chill with us. We can geek out over historical things." That and she figured Jamie might need a moment to deal without worrying his father might feel bad over it.

"Sure, we can do that," Jamie said, recognizing the gesture for what it was and feeling really grateful for it. He tended to worry or react mostly in private, because that was easier for him. He didn't want his dad to think he was angry or upset at him, because he wasn't.

"We should go and see the Parthenon, if you guys haven't already."

"We could take you," Victor suggested, since the thought of going anywhere seemed to make Thomas go even paler. "Give Thomas time to nap."

"Only if that's okay with everyone," Thomas quickly said.

"Of course it is," she offered Thomas a smile, "it's hardly a problem to go see the Parthenon with Jamie. It'll be fun." She ave another smile then, "we all good? We'll walk you back to the hotel Thomas, then we'll go geeking with Jamie."
