Kat was worried for Thomas, but if he had to undergo surgery she figured she could at least try and make him feel better. And share the news as she was fairly sure he'd enjoy hearing it. And he'd had a kid young so she knew he wouldn't get too judgey. She'd indeed brought soup and figured she'd enjoy it while distracting her friend.

After finding out what room he was in she walked in with a smile. "Hello hole in skull. Will I just see empty if I look in it?" Smirking she set the soup down before going to, gently, hug Thomas. "I'll hit you when you're out of the hospital."She drew back, "seriously. Had us all worried."

Thomas loved children and it was a pity he couldn't have more. He was thrilled to be able to help if Kat and Victor needed him to. "I can babysit as well. Ah...surgery. They keep saying maybe Tuesday and I feel horrid because that's Jamie's birthday. But it depends on if I'm stable enough by then. I'll keep you informed though."

She waved her hand, "don't worry about that. I'll make sure Jamie enjoys his birthday and if I can't I'm sure Theseus will." She smiled at Thomas, "he'll understand Tom. And I will take those offers of babysitting."

"I just don't want him worrying about that on his birthday. Brain surgery isn't...it's not always successful. And Jamie is my medical proxy." They had already spoken about it and it had not been a fun conversation.

She set her hand on his and gave a gentle squeeze, "You'll be fine. Don't worry about what could go wrong. You'll spend all of your time freaking yourself out. I'll make sure Jamie is distracted. Or if he wants to I'll come sit with him here. He'll worry regardless if he's here or not."

She was right of course. He smiled lightly at her and patted her hand. "Thank you. He'll need that, I think."

"It's the least I can do, considering everything." she did feel bad she couldn't help more.

He chewed on his lip for a moment and then he turned his head over until it was on his side and he was looking directly at her. "Can I tell you something? I...I don't want to burden you."

But oh how he needed to talk to someone.

She frowned but nodded. If he needed to talk, she would listen. "Sure Thomas. What's up?"

He sighed and fiddled with the blankets on his bed a bit. "It's just that I'm terrified. And people can tell me over and over that I'll be fine, but that doesn't make it true. I'm honestly and truly scared for my life and it's...horrible."

"I know the feeling. Sort of. Not in the same capacity though." She brushed her hair from her eyes, "I was in shock. Had they found me any later, things may have started shutting down. I couldn't keep awake and I was terrified. I had more then one thought that I may never wake up. And this isn't the same. It's bigger. So you're totally allowed to be scared. Just remember we're here for you and will help you through this."

Thomas knew Kat would understand. It was why he hadn't shied away from telling someone so young with the worry it would be a burden on them. "It's...just so scary to think they could cart me off and that'd be it. I don't want to leave Jamie. And I want to start my new course. And meet your baby. I'm glad you're all here though, it really does help."

She smiled, "'course. And I'll keep this between you and me." She frowned, "what about insurance, to make sure you do get to do all that? There's plenty of people around who can make sure you get through this, if you're too worried. We could even ask Michael. It seems we are able to take advantage of such matters."

"In...insurance?" he asked, looking confused. "That...that can happen?" That had caught him entirely by surprise.

She bit her lip, "I'm sure Vic mentioned this but, well, he's not exactly supposed to be here. When he got shot, things went really bad. Michael stopped that. I'm sure he can do something similar for you." She shrugged, "And if he can't, there are others out there. There's no hundred percent of course but there are ways to make you feel more at ease."

Thomas chewed his lip because something about this just felt wrong. But one of his dearest friends was still alive because of it, and that wasn't bad at all. "If...it's something that could happen for me, of course I'd like that." He didn't want to die. He so very much did not want to die.

She didn't see anything wrong with using connections like this. It was there for a reason. So she smiled, "good I'll talk to him and some other people. Maybe it'll help you relax a bit."

"Thank you. Kat...if I haven't mentioned it recently...you're a wonderful friend." She really was. And she kept proving herself over and over again.

She waved her hand, "thanks but it's honestly the least I could do. I'd do the same for Jamie if it came down to it."

Hearing that meant everything to him and he reached out to take her hand. "Thank you so much."

Smiling she squeezed his hand, "of course Thomas. You know Jamie's like a brother to me. I'll do everything for family."

He thought of Kat as family too and it was just beautiful to hear. "As would I."
