There was a reason that most pill bottles said to not drink while you were on whatever medication was inside. They tended to not mix well together, and people had done stupid, even deadly things while under the influence.

Thankfully, Jesse had the good sense to know, at least peripherally, that attempting to even get up from his couch would end really badly. So he was firmly planted in front of the TV, not really concentrating on the screen, just zoning out. When the knock came, he hobbled over to the door and leaned heavily against the frame as he opened it. "JJ, hey," he said, grinning at her. "Come on in."

"Christ," she hissed, reaching out to make sure he didn't topple into her. "Wow, you did mix some interesting things didn't you?"

"Yeah, and I'm starting to regret that now," he replied. "You might have to help me sit back down, the floor looks like a ramp."

"You're lucky I'm used to this," she laughed. After making sure the door was closed, she helped him back over to the sofa slowly. She lowered him down and then grinned down at him. "Can I get you anything else, soldier?"

"Hence why you're here, and not somebody else," Jesse told her, only slurring slightly. Then he lifted his arms. "You could hug me?" he said, pouting at her. "And maybe some water, please?"

"Easy done," she said, leaning in to give him a huge hug, complete with a smoochy kiss right on his cheek. "You might be all high, but you're still sexy!" she said happily. Then she rose and fetched him some water. "Here you go. Just don't choke or anything."

"Says the better looking person in this apartment," Jesse called after her, grinning.

"Thank you," he said, taking a few small sips. "I am indeed all high, but apparently that comes with the urge to do dumb things. Thankfully that's hampered by the fact that walking is painful."

"Don't be ridiculous!" she called back.

"Yeah, I know the feeling, but usually when I'm high I can't do stupid things because everything is fucking spinning and I can't move."

"I will be as ridiculous as I want, OK," Jesse laughed. "And yeah, the spinning hit earlier, and it was really not fun."

Jess chuckled at him as she sat down again. "Nah, never really is unless that's what you're going for. Sorry you got hurt. You okay for money?" Being forced to take time off was never easy on the purse strings.

"Which it wasn't," Jesse said, sipping at his water. "And yeah, I'll be OK. The garage pays me well enough that I've been able to sock some away. And hopefully I'll be able to get up and around soonish."

"If it changes and you need some, just tell me okay?" she said seriously. She hated thinking of her friends in trouble.
