Maddy was still moving pretty stiffly, but her doctors had told her that as long as she didn't overexert herself, she could pretty much go back to her life as normal. So she cleaned herself up, exulting in the fact that she could wear real clothes again, and not a gown that tied in the back.

She waved at the new people when they entered. "Nice to meet you both," she added.

"Hi, Victor," Jamie grinned from his spot next to Maddy. "Doing good, things are slowly getting back to normal."

"Victor is my best friend," Thomas said, sounding proud he even had a best friend. It made Lena reach out for Thomas' hand and give it a kiss.

"Hi people I don't know!" Aoife said cheerfully. "Victor's like my dad 'cause my real dad died! ...well that's depressing, sorry. I can juggle if you want me to!"

"I'm sorry about your dad," Maddy offered. "Oh man, I used to think people who could juggle were wizards."

Aoife grinned and then she reached out to pat Victor on the head. "He's the best! And yeah, it sucks but I'm alright now! I learned how to juggle in Dublin from a street performer."

Lena looked impressed. "That sounds like a story my sister Ilsa would tell."

"Nice," Maddy said, nodding. "Is that where you're from?"

"Didn't you say Ilsa was an arty type too, Lena?" Jamie asked. "I'm meeting and hearing about so many cool people."

"She is!" Lena said, feeling chirpy. "Ilsa travels the world, though she's stuck in NYC for now. She's amazing, and she always has these tales about-"

Aoife, as was her wont, suddenly interrupted by slamming her fist lightly on the table and then pointing to Lena. "Oh my god, I figured out where I know you from! Porn!"

Victor's eyebrows raised into his hairline and Thomas had to cover his mouth to keep from laughing as Aoife continued.

"You're- Argh what was your name..."

"Aurora," Lena supplied with a smirk.

"Yes!" Another fist slam. "I love your stuff! I mean...I like the softer stuff better. The stuff that's like Suicide Girls? That DP set from July had a little too much penis in it for me, you know?"

At that, Thomas actually choked on his water and Lena just patted him on the back while Victor shook his head. "That's my Aoife," Victor said with a laugh.

Maddy choked on her soda, and Jamie just laughed. Maddy coughed to clear her throat, one hand on her ribs. She checked her phone, then fished out her bottle of Vicodin, twisting the top off under the table, then swallowing one as discreetly as she could. Which wasn't very.

"How have we not met before?" Jamie asked Aoife. "Because you are a hoot and a half."

Maddy, who could finally talk again, rasped out, "Now who sounds like they're 54?"

Aoife grinned at Jamie and she held a hand up to high five him. "Kat told me about you! She says you're amazing so we should be friends," she said, nodding sagely.

Softly, Thomas patted Maddy's shoulder because he felt bad she was in pain. Out loud, he said, "that's probably my fault, I say hoot and a half a lot."

"That DP shoot was fun though," Lena grinned. "Probably my last one for a while. But my sister just started doing some work too."

Because Victor had already told her everyone here knew about immortals, Aoife added, "I can't tell my mom about it because she's Aphrodite and apparently she and Peitho have a rivalry going. It's Peitho's site, right?"

"It is!" Lena confirmed. "And now we're just talking about porn."

Jamie high-fived her. "Kat's pretty awesome," he agreed. "So yes, we should definitely be friends."

Maddy smiled at Thomas, sitting up a little straighter and smiling a bit more. "It probably is, you say all sorts of things," she agreed.

Jamie blinked a few times. "You know, a couple months ago, this whole conversation would have seemed so strange to me," he said. "Now it's just...meh." He laughed.

Thomas chuckled at his son. "That's what my childhood was like. My mother talked about it so much that I got desensitised. Though I don't think she ever mentioned porn at lunch."

"Lunch is a great time to mention porn," Lena laughed. She grinned at Aoife too. "By the way, I think you're awesome too. My club is opening again soon and you should totally come. You're invited too, Maddy, if you think you can handle an outing at night at that point."

Maddy smiled at Lena. "I'd like that," she replied. "Would it be OK if Char came too? She's staying with me for a while."

"Of course!" Lena said with a grin. "It'll be so nice to get back into it and having you all there would make it even more special."

"What kind of club is it?" Aoife asked and when Lena explained it was burlesque, she grinned widely. "Oh man, I would so love to be a dancer, but I have no rhythm. And yet I still try to go to clubs and dance around and I always make a fool of myself!"

"Right, you and I are so going out some time," Lena informed Aoife with a grin. "I can't take this one until his brain heals," she said, pointing to Thomas.

"I might try to do the robot too hard and have a seizure," he shrugged.

Victor gazed at his friend in horror and then he looked to Jamie and Maddy. "He doesn't really do the robot, does he?"

"Great! I'll tell her about it when she gets home from work," Maddy said. "It'll be my first time at a burlesque club, I'm kind of excited."

"Oh yes, he does," Jamie laughed at the look on Victor's face. "There's a reason his nickname is Captain Giraffe, he has all the grace of one. I say that with love, of course, but it's true." Maddy cracked up, thankfully the twinge in her ribs was less this time.

"So Aoife, you said your mom was Aphrodite?" she asked, curious. "Sorry, I know you said that a while back, but I've only ever met one person whose mom was a goddess before, so it's still pretty new to me."

"No that's okay!" she said, waving her hands around. "Yeah, she's Aphrodite and she's really great! Who else did you meet who's the child of a goddess? It's nice sometimes to know you're not the only freak around," Aoife said with a laugh.

"Ah, that would be me," Jamie chimed in, pointing to himself. "My mom is the goddess, or embodiment, or whatever, of Nerd Culture. Well, one of them, anyway. I only found out a few months ago, it's still a little weird."

"Which is cool, since you're a little weird," Maddy teased, poking him.

Aoife's mouth dropped open and then she clapped. "That is awesome! Okay we're definitely being friends now! I remember when I found out I was like 'hahahhaa stop lying' to my dad. But now I live with her and Ares taught me how to protect myself. So weird sometimes."

"But hey, handy to know Ares is on your side I'd wager," Thomas said with a nod.

"Totally. Although I think he thinks I'm hot too, which is also weird. But whatever." She bounced twice on the booth and then said, "I'm going to pee!"

"Me too!" Lena jumped up and they headed to the bathrooms, giggling the entire way.

Victor ran a hand through his hand before chuckling and saying, "well that's Aoife!"

Jamie grinned. "Yeah, it's pretty cool. And her brother's pretty awesome too. But yeah, I had sort of the same reaction. Well. More like complete disbelief, but yeah."

"Yeah, ditto," Maddy added. "And yeah, that does sound sort of weird, but from what I've read of Greek gods, they're all a little weird."

Jamie watched them go, before saying, "Which, as we all know, is girl speak for 'off to chat in the bathroom'."

"Shh, you can't give away all our secrets!" Maddy giggled. "But I like her! She's...vibrant."

Thomas chuckled and he said, "welp, let's hope I come off well there!"

"I wouldn't worry," Victor promised him. "Aoife probably won't give Lena much of a chance to say anything anyway. Vibrant is a good word for her. She's really great though. Very generous and kind. And she's the one who got Kat and I to finally go on a date and who knows if I ever would have asked if Aoife hadn't rather magnificently told me to just do it."

"It seems she's good at that," Thomas laughed. He hadn't really expected to tell his family Lena did porn but it appeared they didn't care. "I'm glad Lena didn't want to keep it secret."

Maddy patted his arm. "I don't think you have to worry, Tommy," she assured him.

"She does seem pretty cool," Jamie agreed. "We can start a club, children of god things. Make T-shirts. Kat can join too, grandkids count."

"Secrets have a way of not staying secret for long in our family," Maddy added. "Mostly because we collectively have no filter. Except Jamie."

"You say that like it's a bad thing."

"I think if you asked Aoife to join a club, she might squeal with happiness. Kat will want the shirts to have a movie or game reference." Victor smiled as he spoke about at, as he always did.

"Sometimes I'm at work and I have to remind myself filters in public are a good thing," Thomas said, smiling at Maddy.
