If honest with herself, Kat was starting to think of Victor's place as 'home'. A safe place, where everything bad could be shut out and she didn't have to think. She kept it to herself for now though. When he picked her up she'd just smiled and climbed into the car. She'd been quiet most of the ride, staring out at the city and hating how utterly normal it looked.

Somewhere out there something so evil had a friend of hers in it's claws, and people were still busy yelling at traffic. It felt horribly unfair. She wanted to yell at them, but didn't. Instead she played with a bracelet on her wrist and was quiet. When they arrived she walked into his home and put up her coat. It all felt mechanical. She wondered if any of it mattered.

She found herself on the couch with the desire to cry, but didn't. She'd cried more then enough over the past few days. Between the nightmares and that, she just felt tired. "I really want to run away." She finally gave. She toyed her fingers over her jeans. "And it feels like it wouldn't matter. Like nothing matters."

She gave him a bright smile, "and this is why you're going to be really good at being a dad. You're already wonderful at everything else."

"A baby giraffe with a blue ribbon, for Thomas." She smiled to the thought, "which only makes me want one myself."

Victor just chuckled at her and he hoped she was right. He wanted to be a good dad and if he could be as half as wonderful at being a dad as his own father was, he reckoned he would do okay.

"That's really touching. I bet Thomas lost it," Victor said with a small smile. "Are you still wondering what to get?" Victor had a few tattoos himself, and he didn't regret any of them.

She shook her head, "Ask him or Jamie. I had to go study." She hoped they hadn't minded, but she was glad to have been there. "But I'm willing to bet he did."

She nodded. "I want it to mean something, and I can't figure out where. Somewhere I can cover up, for whatever employers aren't keen on that. Or I'm just waffling way too much." She smirked, "I was tempted to text you to tell you I was getting your name, and then I realized you'd call my bluff."

Victor laughed loudly at that. "Oh god! I would have called your bluff and then hoped I was right."

"You would have been. Not a thing I would do. I think the only name I'd ever get would be my kids names. Or even then, a symbol." She shrugged and finished her cake. "Like Jamie did." She tilted her head, "for a moment I considered something Greek, but my grandfather does not need more ego."

"It's not a thing I would ever want anyone to do either," he said with a smile. "But symbols are wonderful. Though I agree about your grandfather, but if it means something to you..."

She shrugged as she put her plate in the sink, "it does and doesn't. He's important, but I'll look at it one way, and he another. Plus I want something that means something to me, not anyone else. So if I ever find the funds it'll probably be the laws. Maybe on my back."

"I think that will look wonderful," he said, standing so he could kiss her. "Mine are all things which meant a lot to me."

Smiling she returned the kiss before setting his plate aside as well. "Do you want to tell me or do you want to embarrass yourself with pictures?" She never tried pressuring. She liked hearing about his things, but she let him share them when he wanted. "Oh, whenever I either win the lottery or rob a bank do you want to go with me when I get it done?"

"Pictures are probably more amusing," he said, a wry smile on his face. "Of course I'll go with you." He could also pay for it, but he was pretty sure she wouldn't be interested in that.

He left the table behind and waved her over to the living room again when he kept his photo albums. Opening one up, he flipped through it until he got to the awkward stage he had between being kicked out of his foster home and going to the academy. "Ah, here we go (http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/24000000/JDM-jeffrey-dean-morgan-24074395-371-255.jpg)," he laughed. "Look how tough I thought I was."

"Thanks," she was glad he'd be there. She'd ask Jamie too, once she had the funds for it. She figured if she was careful she could get it done after the summer, depending on artists. The one Jamie had visited seemed decent.

She followed him, then sat down. She studied the picture before laughing. "Sorry. Okay not sorry completely amusing. I will repay you with pictures in turn, honest but this is gold."

"It's okay, I encourage laughing at my ridiculous past," he said with a smile. There were more on the other page and he pointed at one in particular (http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/24000000/JDM-jeffrey-dean-morgan-24074388-193-322.jpg) where he was making a ridiculous face. "Ah, youth."

She gave another laugh to that, "I can't decide if this is adorable or ridiculous. I'm going to go with both." She grinned and set her hand on his knee. "Thank you for showing me."

"I have my high school photo here somewhere, tucked away it-" He muttered as he flipped about in the book and then he came to it. "There it is (http://www.celebyearbookphotos.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Jeffrey-Dean-Morgan.jpeg)," he said, amused. "My hair...the horror."

That only made her laugh again and she shook her head. "Tie's. Really. For high school pictures? I'll leave everything else alone but oh honey." Chuckling she patted his arm.

"I was trying to look fancy!" he protested with a laugh. "Can a fedora make this better?" he asked as he turned to the next photo (http://media-cache-ec4.pinterest.com/192x/83/7f/a7/837fa7d5f69a637ff62019726f08b5d1.jpg). "This was after starting at the academy. I was being suave."

"Oh God. No. No it doesn't make it any better. More hilarious, certainly. And who ever told you fedora's were suave?" She smirked at him, "because they lied."

"The 90s told me," he laughed and then he turned to plant a kiss on her forehead. "It's a good thing I don't try to be suave any more, because I'd be setting myself up for failure."

She chuckled, "well they told a lot of lies. And you're plenty suave and cool. Mind you this is a girl whose interest is computers telling you so take it with a grain of salt." She went to take his hand then, "I am feeling better though."

He lifted her hand to his lips and planted a soft kiss on it. "Your opinion is the only one I care about anyway. I'm glad you're feeling better. Is there anything else I can do for you?"

She shook her head and laced her fingers with her, "no because you're being wonderful beyond anything I could want. But what about you. What can I do for you?"

"I just didn't want to sleep alone tonight," he admitted. "So you already gave me what I wanted when you asked to stay. I probably would have begged eventually," he said with a chuckle. "Having you here with me is all I really want."

She set her hand on his cheek and gave him a long kiss. "sometimes you're too adorable and I don't know what to do with you. But that I can do. Easily." She didn't want to touch the sore wound and knew other things to discuss. "How long do you want to stay in Greece for?"

"I'm not even trying to be adorable," he said, looking pleased with himself. "And that's up to you, really. We could go for a few weeks or the whole summer. Whatever you like. I was thinking though, that after you finish finals, maybe we could adopt a dog. And if we do, maybe just a few weeks is better."

Laughing she shook her head, "I know. When you do try my only reaction is to kiss you." She smiled to the thought of a dog, "I would like that. I do love puppies. A few weeks is fine then, and I know you have your classes in August and my finals end on the seventeenth. So what about the middle of June until my birthday? It'd be like three weeks."
