When she'd gotten home, she'd gone to the doctor. Thomas confusion and headaches made her worry and after the attack the doctors had wanted her to come back in after th holiday. She'd sat at the office when they drew the blood, and when the doctor had returned with a frown she'd been a little concerned. But he'd given her the results, and those had made her pale a little. The doctor had said he could run other tests to confirm it, but there was a ninety percent chance it would come up again.

After a moment of freaking out the doctor had send her out and she wasn't sure what to do. There was a vague sense of panic, mixed with relief that there had been a conversation about this. She just hadn't expected kids for a few more years. She was completely unprepared for this.

For a while she'd sat on the curb near the doctor to get her head right, before making a plan. The first step would be to talk to Victor. She'd work out the other steps later. In a daze she walked home, startling herself when she was at the door. She hadn't even realized it. She ran her hand through her hair as she opened it and set her bag down before going to find Victor. "Hey."

She took his hand and rose with a smile. "Thanks love. I appreciate it." With that she went to sit on the counter and settled her hand over her stomach, still a bit surprised by this. "So your in laws will get a kick off this. Want to invite Rose and her partner for dinner to break the news? We can invite her folks too if you like."

"Of course, honey." He started gathering ingredients and then he laughed. "Rose and Aislinn will be excited and oh goodness...my in-laws-" They were going to be over the moon. "I think they'll feel like they're getting a grandchild."

It was all in all, a better reaction then she felt she'd receive from her own family. "That's adorable. Hey let them know if they want to be involved they're free to do so." She felt that was only fair. They seemed to love Victor so much.

"They'll be overjoyed to hear that," he said honestly. And they had been like parents to him, so he was glad to hear Kat say it too. "So is your mother likely to want my head as a sacrifice?"

She knew they were important to him so she wanted to include them. At his question she gave a snort. "Oh God. My mom will freak, but not at you. I wouldn't do that. Nor will my grandfather by the way. They won't be happy. Not at first, but it makes us happy."

"We can win them over," he said, trying to sound calm about it. He was worried about Hermes, but what could he do? He would just have to prove this would work by making it wonderful.

"Of course we can." She smiled at him. She'd try and smooth things over as much as she could. It seemed unfair for her family to blame him. "I'm pretty sure it'll help if I tell Hermes you proposed. I just won't mention when. If that doesn't work I'll just remind them you make me happy."

He's so sad, he loves threatening people!

"Always a good thing to remind them of," he said with a wink. "Oh goodness, does this mean you have to stop drinking coffee?"

She gave him a look, "you're not allowed to make fun of me, I'm going to have your child." She grinned, "I have found the best excuse for everything ever. But yes I have to stop drinking coffee and I'll ask the doctor what is and isn't good for me as well."

He grinned and danced away whimsically before saying, "I could give it up too if it would make you feel better." He didn't want her to feel alone in it.

It was really sweet of him to offer, "no. I think I'll manage. But thank you for the offer. I really do appreciate it."

"Well if you change your mind, the offer's there." He tossed the chicken he had cooked into a ceasar salad and then he placed it all onto some bread, making an open-faced chicken ceasar sandwich. "Here we go," he said, handing it over.

Gratefully she took the plate before starting. She hadn't really eaten anything and she figured she should probably change those eating habits. "I can't promise I won't take up on the offer in the future. It'll depend on how much I'll miss coffee."

"We can get some nice herbal teas?" he suggested, and he rounded the counter to plant a kiss on her hair. "But we're in it together."

She looked up to him with a smile, "you're amazing but we'll see if that helps. And thank you for being so...well awesome really." Smiling she took his hand, "It means a lot to me."

"I just love you," he said easily. And that was all it was. He would do anything to make her happy and it was pretty simple. Doing a little extra didn't feel like going out of his way at all.

Smiling she released his hand. "And I'm the luckiest for it. Same for me though." She finished her meal, "so just so you know we can still keep being engaged for now. It won't change the baby having your last name."

He grinned at that. "Sounds fine with me. We could always hyphenate too, if you want t keep your name. All things we can decide on eventually."

Smiling she rose so she could hug him. She stayed that way before she drew back, "boyfriend points do not cross over into fiancee points but you're definitely winning them. And we do have a while, but this is your baby too. You can wish for things. Like, boy or girl? Well genetically anyway, we won't know if they'll be anything else until they can tell us." There was no question if she'd accept it because she would. "What about god parents? I was thinking about Jamie. He can be the cool arty uncle."

"Hey, I earned those pooints!" he protested, but he winked. "I've always wanted a daughter, but I'd be happy either way," he answered honestly. And if he had a daughter who later told them she was actually a boy, he would be fine with that too. It made him quite upset that there were people in the world who wouldn't.

"I think Jamie would be wonderful! For godmother, it could be one of your sisters, or Rose?" He didn't mind either way. His closest friends who weren't related to him by marriage were mostly male. Well, there was always- "Or Aoife," he said with a nod. "She is the one who pushed us into going on a date."

She chuckled, "well all your points have transferred into a baby. I figure it's a good reward." She raised an eyebrow, "see, I'd love a girl but I'm kind of worried what you;d do if she started dating. Can we put a 'no threatening legal actions' rule into place prematurely? Because if she brings a date and you just happen to have all your detective friends over I see it going weird places."

"I don't mind Rose. My sisters will be Aunts so that'll be that. "We could do that. I'm sure she'd love it."

Victor laughed loudly at that and he turned to Kat with a grin. "I think I would be a little more relaxed than that! Maybe I'd just invite Michael over instead of all of them," he winked. "But yes, I agree to the no threatening rule."

Being happy with whatever happened, Victor just leaned in to kiss her hair again. "Do you need anything else?"

"I'm pretty sure Michael might just be confused. But if you like there is the option of multiple godparents. Although I'm not sure how that will work with him being an angel and all."

Shaking her head she rose and set the plate in the sink to get washed, "nope I'm plenty happy. Thank you."

Victor shook his head and he followed her into the kitchen. Sure, Michael had saved his life, but he didn't want him being a godparent. He didn't honestly think Michael would know what to do with a baby. "He would just be awkward about it. I am, however, very glad you're happy."
